Nuno, working on it. I created an authority yesterday. Problem is: I don't want people to be using strict-ssl false, so we need a way for users to add trusted CAs easily (like `npm config push ca npmjs.eu.crt` or whatever).
Mariusz, the mirror is constantly kept up to date thanks to continuous CouchDB replication. And yes, ideally, that should be the case. I invite you to try it out and report back :-).
