Hello, Bert did a quick write up on how the new execSync synchronous API for child processes came about and how it works.
This functionality went live in yesterday's v0.11.12<http://blog.nodejs.org/2014/03/12/node-v0-11-12-unstable/>release and will make its way into the v0.12 release when it materializes.
