It's not too hard to support both:
function promisify(p, callback) {
return p.then(function(val) {
callback(null, val);
}, function(reason) {
callback(reason);
});
}
function somethingAsync(arg1, arg2, callback) {
var d = defer();
// do async stuff
return callback ? promisify(d.promise, callback) : d.promise;
}
