Well, SmartOS, like Solaris and the other illumos distributions, has zones, which offer similar functionality to Containers/Docker. I've been using zones for the sort of use cases that Containers/Docker addresses for the last decade. It's not identical, and the implementation and administration are different, but it's along the same lines.
