What operating system are you on here?

What error do you get when you run it? I'm not quite sure what you're asking 
about a "TTY Compatible terminal" (a TTY interface is in fact what a terminal 
exposes and controls, at least in unix (and arguably at all, depending on 
definitions), so there may be some mismatch in terms here)
