Don't know what you call expensive, but Linode's (https://welcome.linode.com ) $5 plan (or any other similar VPC) are quite affordable.
Other options from them at https://www.linode.com/pricing I've had great luck with Linode in the past. Other options would be Amazon, GCP (Google), Azure, etc...
