Hi All,
I agree that the rule should change with the exception of
catcher. There should be two catchers on each active roster to maintain the
integrity
of Strat as it's the one position in baseball( aside from pitcher ) where a
manager won't just stick someone.

There is only 1 position that should require that a non-position player can
not play. That position is catcher. For example if someone wanted to start
a DH type like Cust/Thome/Giambi player as catcher I would start in my lineup
a Juan Pierrre who on most games is not a starter. I would be dropping my
power hitters for speed because a walk or hit would turn into atleast a double
or even a triple. Thus we should have a exception to the rule that a
catcher most play catcher unless a injury occurs. John North bay

The rules are that way because Lou you wanted that rule in years ago.
However SOMBB advance rules say that you can play players out of postion
making
their rating the worst it can be except for the outfield. Lou you ask about
this rule everytime the subject comes up. I will remind you that was because
we had a team that went to the playoffs playing all year with only 1 catcher
on his roster. Thus the LOU rule (to be fair most agreed with you about
putting the rule in). However now that we use strat's rules about playing out
of
position we certainly can do away with the LOU rule as I also see no reason
for
it any longer. It doesnt matter to me.

There arn't any true rules..........You can play 8 catchers if you
want......................The rules state you have to have a player listed for
each
position, and a backup at each position ( although I'm not sure why, as stated
above )...............

Hi All,
Just wondering, what are the rules concerning playing a position not listed
on a players card ?
And by the way thanks Lou the eligibility info listed in your file saved me
a ton of time. I owe you a beer.
thanks,
Blaine

Idea I am shopping Thome (know of 1 team with some interest) but Tides last
year had Lee at 1B who was a 1 and took 1B Pena who is 1 and played his 40
hrs in LF as a 5. They did make the playoffs. Might you are anyone else be
interested in THOME in LF? I am already knee deep in 1B and will proably use
one
of my 3 C at 1B just to get their bat in the lineup. That would still leave
Pean and Votto at 1B. I am seriously hoping to move him as I would rather
see him go to team that can use him rather than platoon him.
