I was asked to go to a meeting where David Wright was speaking as a benefit for the city of Norfolk.... It was a last minute thing, as I happen to work with a gentleman who's wife works for the city of Norfolk, and he asked at the last minute if I would like to go. I expected this to be a fairly large event and was hoping to get a baseball autographed if I got close to David. When we got there, not only was this a very small event ( only 75 chairs ), David was in the back of the room talking with everyone and signing autographs. Many of the people attending seemed to be there only due to an obligation, and there was only about 15 of us that were wanting to talk to David. He spoke for about 10 - 15 minutes and then took any and all questions for about 45 minutes. He was very friendly and seemed to really like being there. I asked him what current player he would pay to see. This was his response.... The home team has batting pratice first, and then takes a break when the visiting team is having B.P. He said, once when the Cardinals came to town, almost the entire Met team came back to the dugout to watch Pujols hit. He said it was amazing to watch.... Anyway, I got a baseball signed and got to talk with him for about 10 minutes after the event. He even rode the elevator down with us. Just like a regular guy. P.S. - Just a fun note.............. the next morning at work my friend said he saw a sports car on the interstate on the way home and pulled up to get a closer look....You got it......David in a Lambourghini..................
