Roy Halladay tossed a complete game shutout as the Des Moines Dragons defeated
the Chesapeake Yankees by a score of 4 to 0 at Miller Park.
Halladay(1-0) was in control of the game from the outset. He allowed just 7
hits and no walks in 9 innings. The pitchers took over after the 4th inning
as neither team was able to score again.
Clayton Kershaw(0-1) was hit with the loss. He couldn't find the plate,
issuing 5 walks in 2 and 1/3 innings.

the Des Moines Dragons beat the Chesapeake Yankees 5 to 1.
Peavy(1-0) escaped virtually unscathed against the Chesapeake hitters. He
allowed only 5 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. Des Moines had a total of 10
hits for the game.
Jered Weaver(0-1) was hit with the loss. He was touched for 8 hits and 3
walks in 4 and 2/3 innings. 'He came out with good stuff,' Tom Vanderlaan
said about Peavy. 'He threw the ball good from the first pitch on.'
