thanks ray for pointing out my blunder. i easily redid everything with PA and
not AB. Changed pretty much nothing except that not there are 6 teams that
didn't go over 100% in stead of 9. There are only 5 teams that went over 105%.
Point was not supposed to be about that anyways. It was supposed to be about
any correlation between teams that went over and teams that had the max number
of NCR's. It seems that most of the teams that carry 6 NCR's don't have a
problem with over usage as pointed out already. I do hope a draft reward or
penalty is adopted though. Sounds like there are some good ideas. Much better
than mine. Of course i have no sleep ever because of my 4 kids so anything I
say is always kind of loopy. Brandt

Hello
          Buffalo
takes pride in not going over usage in any of our 3 years in this league.
It has been difficult though, we have had to scramble at the deadline
to trade for innings or AB's each year. I agree with Brandt that
something needs to be done and with Ray that it
should be proportionate.

Irregardless of the final NCR limit it is important that those of us at the
bottom of the standings take advantage of the opportunity. There are many
sources of free info on prospects on the Internet. Use the google and in an
hour
or so you will be well versed on the top young talent. There's also a few
getting carded this draft.
          Buffalo first
draft was spent futilely chasing the playoffs. Had we filled our usage
needs and then drafted NCR's chances are some of them would be playing by
now. As it is only Zobrist remains from our first draft. Last year we went
into the draft with no NCR's. With 7 picks in the first 4 rounds
we picked 6 NCR's and 23 year old Kenley Jansen. Two of last
years NCR's (Pineda & Britton) will give us 300 + innings this
year. We were fortunate in that there were two teams available when we
joined NOMBL and i believe we got Ray's old team, the Purple
Doodles. Had we gotten the other team we would have had little to trade for
draft picks.
           As
I plan on playing in this league as long as it or i am around i will do all
i can to help it grow. The quality seems to improve each
year. The owners have been for the most part gentlemen and
the discussions both lively and informative. It would be something to
see if some time soon we didn't need a stink draft because
we all did such a fine job of drafting and trading.
Good Luck in the draft.. especially those of us near the
bottom of the standings

My curiosity got the better of me since we are talking
about NCR's and over usage, so I made a chart of every team and who they
overused and how many NCR's they own. If a player was overused less than a
full inning or AB I did not mark it down (for example .1 ip over)

The results are:

9 teams had zero over usage: Norfolk,
Buffalo, Tidewater, Suffolk, Dublin, Newton, Des Moines, Oakland,
  Virginia
(Fiji and North Bay barely missed by having only 1 player
over with less than 2 ab/ip over.)
4 teams had player/s between 1
  - 4 ab/ip over usage
7 out of 20 teams had overused
  player/s between 5 - 22 ab/ip over including 3 players that
where over by at least 20 ab/ip.

Of the 9 teams that had zero
over usage 4 of them had all 6 NCR's
Of the 4 teams wit 1-4 over usage 1 of
  them had 6 NCR's
and Of the 7 teams that had over usage only 2 had all 6
  NCR's

What does it all mean? I have no idea. I did notice that
Fiji, Norfolk and Buffalo who own the 2,3,4 spots in the draft all have 6
NCR's and have no problem managing over usage.

I still
think we should do a sandwich draft between the 1rst and 2nd round for all
teams with 0-4 ab/ip over usage. There should be some kind of reward,
punishment when a third of the league is breaking the rule. I don't think it
should go into affect until the 2013 draft and every new manager (like Tracy
this year) that enters in the offseason should be put in it regardless.

I'm not sending out my detailed results to respect the
privacy of how much certain teams went over. Its not my place in the league
to
point negative fingers at teams. If you want to know its not to hard to
  look it
up.
