The players with ANY overage were not allowed to use that player in the playoffs. I would say that is a BIG penalty. ROBERT---------- Original Message ----------From: Brandt Mathews <[email protected]>To: <[email protected]>Subject: penalties or rewards for following the rulesDate: Mon, 9 Jan 2012 10:22:25 -0800 I think penaltes or rewards should be handed down for excessive overusage since we are increasing the NCR limit. I didn't count the teams exactly but I think over half the league breaks this rule every year with no consequences. There is simply no incentive for teams not to take the maximum NCR's and disregard usage rules. If penalties are not handed down then mayby a sandwhich draft after the first round for all the teams that did not have excesive overusage. This would replace each teams last pick in the draft. I as well as other managers deserve something to be done for working so hard to keep NO overusage every year. If someone else wanted that NCR then they should have drafted him sooner. It adds strategy to the draft. ROBERT---------- Original Message ----------From: Don Sprague <[email protected]>To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]>Subject: RE: NCR increased?Date: Mon, 9 Jan 2012 12:24:37 -0500 Managers, I think Ray hit it on the nose with his comment: Whatever the NCR limits are works for me. If I was commish (HERE COMES REASON I SHOULD NEVER HAVE ANY DECISION MAKING RESPONSIBILITIES) After draft I would calculate usage and if a team did NOT have enough usage I would require them to DROP an NCR and replace him with a carded guy who gives him enough usage. If people still overuse after starting the season with required usage on their roster which must be maintained after trades then usage rule is too LOW! This is not rocket science or string theory. Even Penny could figure this out. thanks ray BKN I am in complete agreement with Ray and in fact I would penalize Draft picks in addition…. THE NCR is out of control in my opinion! I believe years back it was two which made it manageable….from all the emails I see managers forget who they even have on their roster as NCR’s. I think we should have 40 Rosters Players and a Minor league NCR of 2-5 which is kept separate and the draft for these players is held in January and once a player has 1 AB or IP he no longer can be on the NCR List….you have to move him to the 40 man Roster or cut/trade him. Thanks to Robert, Jack, Lou and who else ( I am sure I missed someone) for sorting through this stuff! Also, Roster size is 42? NCR’s TBD? Is that correct? Don Geneva PS: The Cubs will take Worley or Collmenter with the first pick….unless some one can give me a better pitcher or hitter? ROBERT ---------- Original Message ---------- From: Gary Brown <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Subject: Re: NCR input Date: Sat, 31 Dec 2011 10:41:06 -0800 (PST) I don't think it is all the non playoff teams fault. The playoff teams seem to have a better core of players with plenty of AB at each position. As with my team I took over last year(Norfolk), I have been struggling to get good starting players at each position because when we are able to keep 30 players. It will take a number of years to rebuild when 30+ players are protected. There are teams with 2-3 top starters at 1 position can sit on these player without having to play them or play them out of position. I understand if a emergency situation come up to play someone out of position, but a manager played a player only rated at 3B at 4 other positions 2B, SS, LF, and RF. MLB does use some players like this, but not like some managers use them. That’s why there are utility players with many fielding ratings. If the cut down was to 20 with the max NCR the manager wants to protect, then a wider range of players will be in the draft every year. Every managers would have to be more selective on which players they want as their core 20. My 2.
