1. An Introduction
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As per CURE tradition, we will be taking out a newsletter for 2006. We started with bringing out the first newsletter in 2004 and distributing 1000 copies of the newsletters through mail, educational bodies, organisations and in college talks. In 2005, we brought out our second newsletter and distributed 2000 copies of it. Apart from that, the e-copy of the newsletter was widely circulated on email in Delhi and down-south.
Previous CURE newsletter can be accessed from this page:
http://www.noragging.com/cure/newsletter.html
The CURE newsletter has been a great success in bringing the issue of ragging into light at the time when the new academic year starts. We take out the newsletter in end of June and it is widely circulated over the next three months. It covers latest news about ragging, myths about ragging, potential solutions and CURE activities. The newsletter is an eye-opener for the society and also attracts new members.

CURE Chapter Activities: Each Chapter of CURE is requested to send up a write-up on their activities. The write-up shouldnt be more than 180 words.

Please write for the newsletter, if you think your words can make a difference to the society.
Send an article proposal :
Consisting of: TITLE and a brief ABSTRACT
TO: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

By looking at the proposal, we would be able to inform you if we could accept the article before you put an effort to write it. We will give you suggestions as to what you could include/exclude from the article to make it more acceptable and useful to the society. We will try to accept all proposals.
ALL CONTRIBUTIONS WILL BE ACKNOWLEDGED IN THE NEWSLETTER (INCLUDING REGULAR FEATURES)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Plan this year: Call for distributors/volunteers
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CURE will circulate the newsletter FREE far and wide as every year through its chapters, contacts in various cities. One could also request a free newsletter from the website as always. Thirdly, CURE also publicises its newsletter through the print media of the likes of TOI and HT, and The Campus Paper.
This year we plan to send 5 free copies of the newsletter to more than 50 colleges India-wide. The idea is still fluid and depends on the funding we have/get and if we get volunteers to do it.
To make this project self-sufficient, we could ask the college to request additional copies for distribution at price 1.5 times the cost price of the newsletter.
If anyone thinks he can distribute newsletters to contacts, in his organisation, state, college, etc., kindly send us the number of copies of newsletters you could distribute (Remember it is FREE). This number is NOT BINDING on you and you can change your mind later. It is just to give us a rough idea as to how many copies should go for print.
If anyone wants to volunteer to help get the newsletter printed/distributed/designed, please let us know.
All information, ideas and comments may be sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "NEWSLETTER" in the subject.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. CURE Newsletter: Call for sponsorship
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The cheapest version of a 4-page 2-colour newsletter costs us Re. 1.5 per copy. Last year, Mr. Kiran Kumar generously donated Rs. 5000 to CURE, Rs. 1500 of which were used towards the newsletter. We duly acknolwedged his contribution on the newsletter. We again thank him now.
If we go for 8-pages, the newsletter cost will go around Rs. 2.5 to Rs. 3. Apart from that, there is cost involved to courier the newsletter to different cities and people. Thus the total cost comes to about 1.25 times the printing cost.
The number of copies we print and being able to post copies to a mailing list of colleges depends on the amount of sponsorship we get. We will soon send a update on current situation of CURE funds (in a weeks time).
If you could sponsor a part or the whole of newsletter, please mail us at [EMAIL PROTECTED] All contributions will be duly acknolwedged on the newsletter.
