Hi,

i wanted to share with you all the following piece of information for the
benifit of one and all...more importantly, the region we belong to...

With the main objective to empower the youths of the region with some
vocational
and / or technical / professional skill to face the upcoming challenges, ASOMI
Education Trust is undertaking few initiative for last 2 years. To realize its
goal, thirty two (32) short-term courses such as Soft-skill Development,
Computer Hardware & Networking, Motor Driving, Beautician & Body Care,
Carpentry, Dairy Farming, etc. are offered—with the flexibility that anyone of
the lot may be started anywhere in the State provided we receive the break-even
number of candidate to make it viable.

A 50 contact-hour course named as “Certificate Course in Management
Development”
was conducted in July, 2008, primarily with a view to educate the Staff and
Officials of ASOMI. Now, it has been decided to open up the course for external
candidate as well. Ten different themes—covering a wide spectrum from topics
such as Financial Management to Stress Management, Corporate Law & Ethics—are
being included in the 5-module course.

In its pursuit of extending academic services to the youths of the region,
ASOMI
intends not to leave the high-end competitive world in the national
perspective.
Recognizing the lack of opportunities for the youths aspiring to get into
bureaucracy as a great hindrance for the socio-economic development, it has
collaborated with a Delhi based organization named SAMKALP, providing guidance
for getting into Civil Services during last 13 years, in order to impart skill
and aptitude needed to come out with flying colours in this highly competitive
process of selection. “ASOMI_SAMKALP”, the NE Chapter of SAMKALP Delhi, has
organized one two-day-long Orientation Programme at Guwahati where 37 aspirants
interacted with eight selected officers presently serving in Asom, three
Sensitization Programmes at Dibrugarh, Shillong, and Guwahati with a view to
identify the potential candidate, and two “Meet-Your-Bureaucrat” programmes
where the would-be bureaucrats got chance to interact with selected bureaucrats
from the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, presently in service at different positions.
Few
ancillary components to this main programme are also planned and being executed
with the main objective to make the traditionally perceived “Black Box” more
transparent to the common man.

Following the feed-back of the participants, ASOMI_SAMKALP is now organizing
the
first batch of Guidance cum Coaching Programme  at Guwahati from Nov 1, 2010,
in
order to facilitate those students who plan to write the Civil Services 2011
examinations. Guidance will be provided on both General Studies and the newly
introduced Civil Service Aptitude Test by experienced faculty members from
SAMKALP, Delhi. It has been calculated that at least 150 hrs of clsses are
required to cover both the papers and hence it has been planned to go ahead
with
a 4-5 hr daily session. Since we are keen to restrict the service only to
serious students, a Screening Test is also planned on Oct 24th, 2010.

You all are requested to disseminate the information further so that none of
the
deserving aspirants is left uninformed.

Cheers & regards

Eeshankur.
