So the Americas was apparently first discovered not by those crossing the Bering Strait, nor Thor Heyerdahl and the Vikings, nor the conquistadors but rather by "eight Muslim explorers". Fascinating. We also now know why Columbus ended up in the Caribbean, land of jerk chicken and Red Stripe, rather than his original destination, Indonesia the spices islands (in search of clove cigarettes and gado gado). This was all because he failed to use the idrisis map. Well perhaps we need to reconsider "Columbus Day" in light of these findings.
