Mark, I wrote a post in August 2007, while in Hagi, responding to an obvious instance of Islamophobia penned by you. I said then something to the effect that it was fool's play to engage in your little game of holding up bits and pieces of the Koran for ridicule here and wherever else you might be posting this stuff. I further pointed out to you that whatever any of us may think about organized faiths - and that includes Judaism, Christianity, and others along with Islam - there are many people, no doubt a majority of mankind, who absorb these belief systems as part of their upbringing, and absurd though some of might find some of their teachings, these believers nevertheless find them a source of sustenance and guidance throughout their lives. The fact that I personally do not does not change the fact that I recognize that others do, and feel that some measure of restraint and courtesy is in order given how seriously others take these beliefs, at least when interacting directly with suc h believers. It has been observed repeatedly here, by many members of this list, that you are posting obviously Islamophobic garbage. The "dialogue" with Irfan is just the lowest form of this, a transparent effort to get cheap laughs by mocking someone else's religion, and someone who is predictably a Muslim. It takes a very low person to try to build himself up but putting others down in this way, Mark. Label that comment what you will, but your inability to see how base this conduct is fills me with disgust. I put it to you again, Mark: Place yourself in the position of someone on the receiving end of your little game. You would find appeals to free speech and the rest rather hollow if something you cared about deeply were held up to ridicule in this manner. And you do not even have the guts to do it directly to the person concerned; instead you pretend to be genuinely interested, and then post exchanges behind the other person's back to this list. And finally, yes, you have been asked repeatedly to cease this posting of Islamophobic garbage, and phony "dialogue", and all the rest, by many people on this list.
