Try to download zip-archive file instead of exe-installator. The cause of your
problem is the following: Notepad++ for some reason can't find SciLexer.dll
(text editing library) and langs.xml (highlighting options). These files usually
are placed in the same path (folder) as Notepad++.exe file.

Under the open a new preference, you specify a list of langs to default the
open window to. I did not see PHP. It was hard to search being they are not
in alpha order but I do not believe it is there.

Greg
Thanks - I didn't have a file called UserDefinedLang.xml in the Notepad++
directory
so I created one and put that text in it. As far as I can tell it's working
(but I had previously disabled as much language-sensitive functionality as I
could, so not quite easy to tell).

I just downloaded the nppExec plugin and it works great, except that there's
one little annoying problem:
I use np++ to write a java applet, and to test the applet I normally enter in
the command prompt:
appletviewer http://127.0.0.1/applet.htm
I entered this command in the nppExec, but then it does this:
appletviewer http:
so everything after the // isn't executed somehow.
So now I was wondering: is there a workaround for this problem?

Hi,
I am trying to get Notepad++ to launch Acrobat to view the pdf version of
a tex file. The following command does not work:
"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe"
"$(CURRENT_DIRECTORY)\$(NAME_PART).pdf"
Just as importantly, neither does the following work:
"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\Adobe Acrobat 7.0
Professional.lnk" "$(CURRENT_DIRECTORY)\$(NAME_PART).pdf"
(I activated the LNK extension in the control panel so that Acrobat will
start in the same position as the last run; just declaring Acrobat.exe
will make Acrobat/Reader forget its last position and start with the
default.)
If I put the LNK in a batch file (say view.bat) I can get Acrobat to open
but the file does not open:
view "$(CURRENT_DIRECTORY)\$(NAME_PART).pdf"
Even if I declare the name of the file it does not work:
view "$(CURRENT_DIRECTORY)\foo.pdf"
Please advise!
(It is also somewhat frustrating that I have not gotten a single response
to any of my posts. I have invested many hours learning\configuring
Notepad++ and I would be very grateful to get some feedback; if my posts
are unwelcome for some reason I would love to know the reason why!)
Best
Idris

I need to match a single quote that only follows a comma. I don't know much
about regular expressions but from what I've read that would be a 'look behind'
expression written like this:
(?>=,)"
I get the message "can't find the word" when I search for that (I do have
"regular
expressions" box checked.) I thought there might be a problem with the
characters,
so I tried searching for (?>=a)b because I know that should match the first
line. It should find a "b" that follows an "a" but only select the "b". That
isn't working either. Am I doing something wrong, or is this 'look behind'
expression
not supported in Notepad++?

Correct, Aspell does not make an HKCU entry. I do that manually on guest systems
on a case by case basis IF I need Notepad++ and SpellChecker. The following
lines in a batch file take care of everything SpellChecker seems to need:
reg add HKCU\Software\Aspell /f /ve /d "%~d0\Aspell"
reg add HKCU\Software\Aspell /f /v "Path" /d "%~d0\Aspell\bin"
%~d0 resolves to the drive letter where the batch file is running.
Regarding copy and paste into Notepad++ to spell check:
Sorry, I guess that was not very clear. Let's say I am entering text in a Web
form and I want to spell check it, but I am logged in to a guest account with
limited permissions. I make the above Registry entries, fire up Notepadd++,
copy the Web form text into Notepad++, run SpellChecker, then copy and paste
back into the Web form. Actually, if the text in the form was much over a line
or 2 I typically write initially in an editor then paste it into the form.
Another example: on the podium computer in the classroom where I teach I have
sufficient permissions to write to HKLM. However, I don't want to leave a global
Aspell path entry there after I have removed my USB device that could cause
problems or confusion for someone else.
I hope that cleared it up,
Mike

Hi, The associations with Notepad++ can be reviewed because i have lost my open
: *.bat automatically open with Notepad++ it is a problem for testing or running
.bat file, .vbs or other file type when this needed. You will can save the
default
action and rename it and make Notepad++ first but delete the other ??? Thanks
this is a good software and you have keep the key in the registry for restore.

I got this error too.
Win2000 SP4
NP++4.0.2
QuickText 0.2
First it works.
Now a few days later it didn't.
The first error message: "MSVCP80.dll is missed."
The second error message: "Load Library is failed.
This Plugin is not compatible whith the current Version of notepad++ ... ".
Then NP++ starts and works.
QuickText is not in Plugin menu.
