Gee, this was requested *way back* in 2005 and its still not done??? I totally
agree that after a find or replace you'd normally want that dialog box closed
and out of the friggin way!

Small addition/clarification...the failure to open/unable to find file example
can be extended to all files whose full filespec contains spaces i.e. directory
file is located contains spaces.
First example is the most simple to recreate but this can be recreated by adding
Notepad++ to the PATH environment variable and trying to open any file
in "c:\Documents and Settings" as well as any other directory structure where
a space exist.
Recreate:
cd "C:\Documents and Settings\patrick\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Code
Snippets"
notepad++ myfavcode.c
"C:\Program Files\Notepad++\notepad++.exe" myfavcode.c
notepad++ pops up a dialog saying "c:\Documents" doesn't exist. Create it?"
It continues with all the spaces.
It ONLY works when "myfavcode.c" fully specified and enclosed within quotes.
Notepad++ is such a great editor for this to be a crimp in it's armor! I tire
of using vi or loading emacs just to do a quick source-code view/edit under
Windows. Haven't looked at the source but appears to be a cmd-line parsing issue
since it does not occur with File-Open with notepad++.
This was tested under v4.0 and 4.0.2 on WinXP Pro SP2.

I currently have Notepad++ 3.9 I use it as a replacement for the windows version
of notepad. I'm interested in upgrading to the version 4.0 of Notepad++. Can
I just run the .exe file to upgrade or is there a better way. I looked on the
site but it only talks about using the zip version to upgrade.

Hi
I have no idea. Execute cmd in notepad++ is sometimes strange. But try to see
in batch passing argument is command line is ok using echo command.
In your batch
You can try to make a cd on the on the pdf document directory and make start
your_doc.pdf
I hope that will help you

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but I've been plagued by
troubles
with Notepad++. I didn't realize what was happening until recently.
I have Notepad++ on my thumb drive to use at school (as they don't allow install
of programs) and on my laptop. Switching between the two separate instances
of Notepad++ produced some bizarre effects, which seemed mostly benign at first.
Things such as putting a blank line between all the lines of code (double
lining,
would you call it), weird indentations that went way way right and lines of
code suddenly being on the same line.
On Thursday night I experienced the most bizarre occurrences yet. Namely, after
using Notepad++ to modify code, the files no longer worked after uploading them
to my host. I develop in PHP and was stumped by what was happening. I was
getting
error after error from the host server. I checked and rechecked everything.
I finally realized that Notepad++ was the culprit after I copied and pasted
into Notepad, removed some weird characters and re-uploaded the files (which
then worked).
I checked to make sure I was on the setting of Encode in ANSI.
Has anyone else had this problem? Do I need to encode in UNIX before I upload?
