Yet Another Linux Port Vote.

Or make a side-team/project to change SciTe with notapad++ features.

I use a webserver for TESTING purposes (and another one for production).

So FTP edit (along with SVN) would just be great.

I'm used to an old editor that let me map shortcuts to the keys on the numpad
on the right side of my keyboard, specifically, the +, -, Enter, and * keys.
But of course I don't want to override what those keys do on the normal keyboard
(big enter, shift-8, etc). Can I do this? Thanks, CB.

[First this: do you see the title? It's longer than allowed when typing it
yourself.
I could remove a couple of characters, but coulnd't type any new. The original
title already had the maximum number of characters.]

It turns out that Javascript inside HTML follows its own settings, that is the
settings for the JavaScript language/style. Why is this? I would very much like
to have a single set of settings for all items in the same HTML file. Currently,
in order to have all the HTML-code look the same, I have to change a number
of settings in several languages. I don't think this is very intuitive. Number
are numbers, for example, and I really don't want to distinguish JavaScript
numbers from HTML-numbers.

Do you mean a single-quoted string or a double-quoted string?

Double-quoted strings follow the STRING settings.
Single-quoted 'strings' follow the CHARACTER settings.

That('s how it) works on my computer.

I have no problems to use notepad++ from the command line, since several
versions.
I only experienced (rare) crashes with the Explorer integration of notepad++,
so I uncheck this option during setup.
However notepad++ does not correctly handle command line arguments, as notepad
would do. It somehow sometimes uses the current drive or current directory and
then fails to load the file. It displays error messages, which show that it
is looking for the file in the wrong place.

1. Show the default values (from Global Styles)

For fonts and their sizes, it is possible to follow the Global Styles by
selecting
the empty line on top of the list. However, it is not clear what the global
setting is.

Could you show this setting in that first, now empty, line, possibly between
parentheses or something like that, in a different colour, meaning that these
values themselves cannot be set from the current Language and Style?

2. Set Style settings for all languages at once

Could you enable changing each Style "globally"? Currently, the COMMENT style
has settings for font style and size. I would very much like the possibility
to set these at once for all Languages. I could achieve this for the font style
and size by setting these in the Global Style, but I would still have to first
set these to the default (empty line) value for each Language's Style
specifically.
In fact, I really want these set to the global style default. This requested
feature to do this all at once, I would very much welcome.

3. Have default/global settings for all Style settings

Also, I would like to be able to do this for _all_ Style settings, like colour.
At this moment, there is not something like a default/Global Style setting for
the colours. I always have to specify the colour for each individual style.
As for the fonts, I would also like to be able to have all other style options
use the default/global value.

3. Enable canceling of the colour selection box.

I cannot cancel the colour selection box immediately. It seems I really have
to select a colour. There is a way, however. By selecting "More Colours..."
I get a window that I can cancel. Then also the colour selection box disappears.
Please enable canceling it right-away.

4. Show an example text in the current settings.

Below the colour and font style settings there is some space left. This could
be used by showing an example text in the current settings. This would enable
quick testing and avoid the detour by using the Apply button.

This would also allow showing what lines are interpreted as the current Style
or what characters are used to determine it. I think this is very helpful!

5. Rename Save & Close button.

Why has this button specifically "Close" in its caption? The Apply and Cancel
button also have this effect. I think an "OK" button would be more clearer,
though there really seems to be a difference, see next item.

6. Think about when or when not saving the Style Configurator settings and the
meaning of the Apply and Cancel buttons.

Currently, I understand, the settings will _only_ be saved when pressing the
Save (& Close) button. Otherwise, the Apply button would have no meaning. It
enables testing of settings without saving them. But this is not really
convenient.
What do I have to do to return to my previous settings? Once I apply settings,
I can't cancel them anymore. I can only cancel settings that I have changed
after re-opening the Style Configurator. As may be clear from the previous item,
I would like a button that is similar to Cancel which allows me to say "OK",
I want these changes.

I would expect settings to be saved when closing the program, but I understand
this would make the Apply button useless.

Will you think about enabling to cancel applied settings?
Will there be a way to return to the last saved settings?
Also, posted before, will there be a way to return to the default ("factory")
settings for styles, languages and or all of them?

7. Be more specific about where Language settings are used. I posted in a
separate
message my desire to be able to control _all_ HTML settings within its specific
language. As this is currently not the case, I think it would be useful to make
clear that the JavaScript language settings are also used for JavaScript code
within HTML files. Perhaps a box or list could be added next to or below the
Default and User extensions boxes.

I wouldn't come up with these wishes if I didn't use the product a lot.
I use Notepad++ a lot, because I like it.

I only use this software for light based programming and note taking, so I have
no idea what CRLF means or what it does, but I was using notepad++ as normal
and I must have hit something because now CRLF appears after every line of text.
What is this and how do I disable this feature?
