There was a focus problem with one of the plugins (Explorer, I think) in
Notepad++
4.0x that was fixed with version 1.2 of the plugin. If you are not running
the later version, delete or rename the DLL in your Notepad++/plugins
subdirectory.
The later version can be obtained from the Notepad++ Plugins beta page
at https://sourceforge.net/projects/npp-plugins in one of the submenus. --Joel

It's a known problem, but I don't know if they can directly fix it.
The workaround I use is: Right-click on the taskbar icon for Notepad++, and
select "Move". Then use the left arrow key (or right arrow key, if the 2nd
monitor was originally on the left) to move the window onto the screen.
Finally,
click the left mouse button or press the Enter key to end the move operation.
Another thing you can do in this case is open the "config.xml" file (either
in the Notepad++ install directory or in %APPDATA%/Notepad++) in regular
Notepad,
change the AppPosition's "x" value to "0", and save. Re-open Notepad++ and
it will be left-justified on your primary screen. --Joel

This is not happening on my 4.0.2 setup. If you are not using version 1.2 of
the Explorer plugin, you might need to remove the Explorer.dll from your
Notepad++/plugins directory. You can get the latest version of the plugin from
the Notepad++ Plugins beta page, https://sourceforge.net/projects/npp-plugins

I don't know of any way to do this in NPP 4.0.2. You might simply use a larger
font. You can test that with rolling the mousewheel while holding down the
Ctrl key. --Joel

I don't think NPP is currently able to be compiled with mingw. I saw elsewhere
on this site that Don Ho is considering including a cmake text file (or similar)

I think that means you are copying more than one line to the clipboard, or
including
the carriage return/line feed at the end of the line in the copied text. I
can't really say without knowing what the text is and what you are selecting
from the menu.
What I do in this instance is copy the text to the find buffer (select the text,
press ctrl-F), and do a find. Then I position the cursor in the file before
the first instance of the text (e.g., the top of the file). I press F3. This
finds and selects the text of the first instance. I start recording a macro.
I press ctrl-L (default mapping for deleting a line), then F3 to find the next
instance. I stop recording.
Now I can replay the macro if the F3 found another instance. I can replay the
macro multiple times, or use the "Run a macro multiple times..." menu item (or
the double right arrow >> on the toolbar) and select "Run until end of file".
Since this macro always deletes the current line, I always press F3 at the time
of the file before running it.
Please back up your files first! No warranty is expressed or implied where

I couldn't do it either. I bound the macro "HOME------------ END ------------"
(where HOME and END are the corresponding keys for Home and End on the keyboard)
to Ctrl-F6, then I hold the Ctrl key and press F5 followed by F6 to do this.

I see that the TextFX Viz Settings menu has a default check mark on the "+Viz
Copy-cut always converts to CR/LF", but I don't know if unchecking it and using
the Viz copy features will allow pasting "as-is". You could experiment with
selecting the Unix file format, or use the "View in Hex" plugin, or find an
editor that isn't designed for primarily editing source code. --Joel

I've been able to find text in subdirectories, so the answer to part of your
first question is yes, it should find "<stdio.h>" in all *.h files under
directories
C:\Work\Projects when you select that directory while performing a "Find in
files...".
You're right; the "Cancel" button doesn't stop it. I don't know of any graceful

I know you can directly map the numpad keys that are numbers, by using them
as shortcut keys on macros. So you can create a macro that performs the task
you want, then assign it to a ctrl-NUMPAD0, say.
*** Disclaimer for the following: I don't warrant this, and the developers
of NPP should not be asked about this should you change their configuration
files directly. ***
I've also edited NPP's shortcuts.xml file to add others based on the virtual
keys (the ones prefixed with "VK_") found in the Microsoft SDK header file
winuser.h.
_IN SOME CASES_, you can also remove the ctrl, alt, and/or shift prefix on these
macros after assigning them inside Notepad++ by editing that shortcuts.xml file
and changing the corresponding key qualifier from "yes" to "no". The numpad
numbers 0 through 9 have virtual key codes of 96 through 105. The asterisk
is 106, the plus is 107, the minus is 109, the decimal is 110, and the slash
is 111, according to winuser.h (I converted hex to decimal here, which is what
NPP expects).
At the moment, I don't know what virtual code represents the keypad Enter key.
There's VK_SELECT (0x29, 41 decimal), VK_EXECUTE (0x2B, 43 decimal), and
VK_SEPARATOR
(0x6C, 108 decimal), but no VK_KP_ENTER or similar. --Joel
