Yeah, I agree. Comic Sans is one of the *least* readable screen fonts, as it
was never designed to be used for typefacing. Courier, Times (if you must use
variable width for comments) or even Arial would be better choices. It should
simply not be the default.

Not a bug.
Wordpad doesn't open the file correctly, either, and MS Word asked for an
encoding
when you open it and only displays correctly when you select "Unicode" (not
any of the variations like UTF-8 or UCS-2 LE). It's in a non-standard Unicode
format that Notepad happens to handle correctly (appears to be some kind of
UTF-16 encoding to me).

Here you can download Notepad++ v4.1 Release Candidate :

The v4.1 official release will be ready on the 29th April (Paris time), if
there's
no critical bug found.
Change log :
1. Fix the crash issue while saving settings on quit.
2. Fix the crash issue while using the command line with one launched Notepad++
instance.
3. Enhance Find in files feature :
a. Improve Find in files user interface (more intuitive).
b. The search result (also for find in all opened files) is docked on the
bottom of Notepad++.
c. Recursive search is optional.
d. Search result is collapsable by file.
e. User defined keywords for search result.
4. Add tabbing interface in Find dialog : Find/Replace/Find in files.
5. Add clickable URL http link feature (double click to trigger).
6. Add cmake language support.
7. Update Scintilla component to v1.73.

FYI :
I recompiled your project (old version certainly) in MT mode. The binary is
much larger (180 ko vs 60 ko) but there's no dependacy on other dll.
The binary is included in v4.1 RC (see :
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1721492&forum_id=331753 ).
Let me know if there's a new release available.

It would be great if Notepad++ had support for XHTML.
AFAIK, it shouldn't be that difficult to implement, as HTML and XML are both
