Yes, this is very annoying.
It seems there is now way to sort files in Explorer by simply using the real
extension (instead of the now NP++ file type).

At the moment I am editing a number of files at the same time.
I don't want to switch to all of them to save each of the changes I make.
Does NP++ have a feature to back up opened files from time to time?
If not, would you consider to add this feature to the program?
The user could set the timed interval according to its own purposes.
This could also be a starting point to allow closing NP++ with unsaved files,
and open all of them later again on restarting. A user doesn't have to save
some temporary file then and remove it later.
For opened/saved files with unsaved changed, I guess there could also be a
setting,
presumably asking the user if he wants to reload the file from its original
location, or continue with the "unsaved" changes that NP++ was closed with
previously. Of course this would require NP++ to remember (if) a user did [not]
save these changes previously. If a user discards changes on close-up, NP++
may just reload the file. Alternatively, NP++ may ask on close of the program,
whether the user wants to save the file changes to the "temporary" folder, next
to yes or no (to the original file), or cancel closing.
There might also be an option "save changes to temporary folder", which wouldn't
ask the user to save changes at all on closing NP++. The user can save the
changes
to the file if he is done editing at last himself. He should remember this,
of course. Also, this would require NP++ to _always_ open files from the prevous
session correctly (which I believe it does at the moment). One more thing: what
if the user re-opens (double clicks) a file from its original location and NP++
would start up with an open edit backup/temporary version of that same file.
Ask the user like mentioned above?

In Excel, you can double click a tab, or right click a tab to change the name
of the tab.
Could you add a feature to do the same? Of course, the tab names in Notepad++
are file names, what I really want to achieve through this is to quickly change
the filenames.
Start using Notepad++ a few weeks ago since I started using/learning AutoHotKey.
I am loving it.
Thanks a lot.

I can paste over whatever I select in v4.1. So I don't know what's the problem.
Maybe I don't get what you want?

What kind of support for SAS? If you mean the syntax highlighting, you can use
User Language Define System in Notepad++ to do so.

I would also like this feature very much for _unsaved files_ (new #). I have
a number of temporary tabs that I store temporary information on. It would be
very convenient if I could give them a useful name, without having to save these
edit buffers.

New or opened file tabs are always added as last tab on the tab bar.
I would like to (be able to) insert a new tab from the tab I am currently
working
on.
I think the best way to implement this, will be a feature with the following
options:
- insert new tab before current tab
- insert new tab after current tab
- add new tab as last
Yet another option could be:
- insert new tab as first (contrary to last option above)

Could you perhaps assign the Delete Line functionality to CTRL+E (Erase). I
didn't find any other default assignment to this key. I would like the shortcut
to be default, so I don't have to remember to copy this setting to multiple
computers.

Each time I start NP++, I have to uncheck wrapped search again. Could you please
store this setting with the program?
I would also like the CTRL+R Replace dialog to not automatically check the
Selection
box, when it does already copy the current selection to the Find field. It's
not at all intuitive: why would I want to perform a search in the text I
selected,
for the text I selected? And why should I use the CTRL+R Replace then anyway?
I could overwrite the selected text as easily.
Perhaps you could create a user default setting for this, either copying the
selected text to the Find field, or leaving the Find field as it was and
checking
the Selection box, if there is a selection. Of course, I would also like this
setting to be stored with the program, so I have to tell NP++ what I want only
once.

from time to time, the task manager shows notepad++ is using 99% of cpu even
if I am not actively using notepadd++ for any editing, only 3 files open(2 are
really small, 1 is like 100k). anyone knows why? thanks.
