I have Vista x64 and am having further issues, besides the context menu. I've
reinstalled and upgrade to 4.1 but it doesn't help.
I also can't drag'n'drop files into the Notepad++ window and if I manually
create
a context menu, I can't open files on mapped network drives (I get a "file
doesn't
exist"-error).
Anyone else seen this?

yup, u are right... i overreacted... sorry... it's just everybody still asks
the same questions over & over again and don't even bother to use the search
feature...
nope, i'm not involved in developing npp (although i'd would like to if i had
anytime left - 5 month child & stuff), i'm just a guy who helps the dev team
by replying to those * questions ;)

Control+H does have some very limited multiline capabilities. See
http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm for details. I've never tested
these with the "replace in all open documents" function. It certainly doesn't
let you operate on unopened files like control+F does.
If that's not satisfactory, I have used a command line program called msub for
years for this kind of thing. It allows you to do regexp search and replace
on files.

This version contains the minor features enhanced and bugs fixed.
It should more stable than v4.1.
Here are v4.1.1 fixed bugs and added features (from v4.1) :
1. Fix the unnecessary memory consuming (not memory leak) while find in files
operation.
2. Enhance Find in files feature : Insert the default value to filters and
Directory fields automatically while launch or switch to Find in file dialog.
3. Fix the crash bug while double click on find in files result.
4. Link clickable feature is optional (in Preferences->MISC).
5. Fix crash problem while search in all opened file in multi-view mode.
6. Fix Close button misplaced problem in Find dialog.
7. Change the plugin behaviour : different users can have different sets of
plugins, besides the basic set. Notepad++ will load the plugins from
%APPDATA%\Notepad++\plugins\ directory, in the case of absence of
"doLocalConf.xml".

this is a few lines of code in any script language eg perl:
-- cut here --
use warnings;
$what = shift;
$to = shift;
@files = @_;
foreach (@files)
{
open(INFILE, "$_");
$content = join("\r\n", <INFILE>);
close(INFILE);
s/$what/$to/g;
open(INFILE, ">$_");
$content = join("\r\n", <INFILE>);
close(INFILE);
}
-- cut here --
ofcourse this is a bit lame (eg. you have to specify the whole path for each
file, the file is opened twice, the eol is lost etc.) but what do you expect
from 2 min script... and you have regex support out of the box :p
would be nice to have some script support in notepad++, nothing too advanced,
some variables, some text replace, some output parsing... this could be achieved
with NppExec, but it needs some work... would be nice to have some kind of macro
& scripts window like 'favourites' or maybe add it to favs... anyway... Don...
think about it - i can say that if this feature will evolve i can make some
perl scripts on demand :)

Surely with bracket highlighting this should be no problem to create? Could
you not just rehash alot of the code that you used for bracket hi-lighting?

Hi
I am trying to watch source code and plugin dll of insert plugin nevertheless
It seems that compile dll is older then the source code because there is no
docking feature. Am I right? Is it possible to have got the last compile dll?
I know that to try to make a plugin I have to be able to compile source, but
for now I just want to understand what is possible and how to do that.
Moreover I would like to know what (free) tools are available on windows to
compile source?
Thanks

NP++ takes advantage of functions already supplied by the Scintilla component
DLL for locating the matching braces. If that component also had routines for
finding a matching html tag, then it would be comparably simple to add that
option to NP++. Alas, it does not, so as it stands, someone would have write
that code for either Scintilla or exclusively for NP++. As Jens observes, this
is certainly possible, but it takes more effort than what you were expecting.
Regards.
Greg

Chris Severance's web page for the TextFX plugin http://textfx.no-ip.com/textfx/
has some great tips, examples, and links to tools (free and commercial) for
compiling NP++ plugins. Thank you, Chris!
Regards.
