Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't find any mean to reopen the close "Find
result" pane because I wanted to have more space.
I mean, I could close the "Function List" pane (by default on the right) and
then I could just click the "List..." button to make it reappear. But there's
no way to make the "Find result" pane to reappear unless making another search,
but that's not I wanted.
Please add this button.
PS: By convention, the "View" menu also gives the possibility to show and hide
a certain pane. So I think the "Function List" and "Find result" panes should
be accessible by the "View" menu as well.
Thanks for this great product.

Thanks Jens!
Those would be great fixes. I found something else.
The problem I mentioned with the "Try!" function also happens randomly when
switching between documents. Someone mentioned it before. For me, I defined
two groups for a given document type, one for public functions and another for
private. It works some of the time, but when it doesn't, only the first group
shows up. Closing and reopening NP always fixes it for the currently open
document,
but it always comes back eventually.
Good luck!
~sean

It wouldn't work fist, then I corrected the mask to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] (before: [EMAIL PROTECTED] )
When I searched, it also found expressions that just contains 'cc',
[EMAIL PROTECTED] for example.
But now have anybody a solution for that expression [EMAIL PROTECTED] It
was also found, because it contains '.cc'.
[a minute hacking]
OK! I've done!
Just add a '$' at the end. Here is the complete '[EMAIL PROTECTED]'. It could
be easier! Thanks to all and special thanks goes to bdb4269 for the link to
regex!!! Best regards

This is a great tool for trouble shooting/learning regex's. It will let you
type in regex, and it will show you results in realtime, an a sample set of
data. So you tweak your regex to select exactly what you want without anything
you don't.

Love the program, and it's infrequent when I need to open large files. Have
a beefy server (8GB RAM, 4xXeon Processors, Win2003 Enterprise) I tried to open
a 300MB text file on ... memory goes up to about 1GB then the program completely
crashes.
Does anybody know the imposed limited for Notepad++? Or is Windows to blame?
Or some combination thereof?

Thanks for your replies. So there is no way to modify the underlying Scintilla
code to fix this? :-(
I truly do appreciate Notepad++ and all the work that is put into it.

By paragraph, do you by any chance mean one really really long single line of
text (that is getting wrapped at the edge of the screen ten or twenty times)?
I have noticed that excessively long *single lines* of text cause slowdowns
on my P166 laptop, but code which has plenty of carriage returns and short lines
does not, even if the file is huge.

I have seen this happening on win98/XP, and under NPP v3.7, 4.0.2, and 4.1.2
(latest available as of this post)
I had the following tabs open:
SourceCode1 on left
SourceCode2 on left
Output.txt on right (using "go to another view")
Output.log on right (same)
1) When I alt-tab away from NPP and run my program, it updates both of the
output
files before completing.
2) Then, when I go back to notepad it notices the changes.
3) Notepad++ says "Output.txt has changed!" I say yes to update.
4) The right side view changes to output.txt, and is updated (OK)
5) Notepad++ immediately follows with "Output.log has changed!" I say yes to
update.
6) The LEFT side view gets populated with the contents of output.log, and the
right hand view changes to the output.log tab.
But, the right hand view still has the stale version of output.log...
worse, my SourceCode file is gone, replaced by the fresh contents
of output.log.
And thanks to murphy's law, the tab on the left which gets overwritten is the
one that had the focus, and which also happens to be the one most likely to
contain unsaved changes. :)
I can manually "reload from disk" both the affected sourcecode and the log to
get them sorted out again.
--> Note that there is no problem at all during the first automatic Reload From
Disk action.
It is the second (subsequent) one(s) that update the wrong tab. If "update
silently" is checked, it still happens.
--> Note also, that there is no problem unless you are using the split
right/left
view.
--> Note finally, that the wrong update goes to the tab which had the focus
on the left (in my example).
If one of the tabs on the right had the cursor before I clicked away from
notepad++,
the update also works.
I have not yet tried testing this with reloads happening on both sides or
reloads
on the left.

Try the menu:
Settings -> Styler Configurator...
There you can change your default to use a font that is more distinctive.
"Courier" instead of "Courier New", for example.

Is there an option to enable fixed width characters?
I even tried Courier and Courier New and they both display e.g. spaces and i's
thinner than other characters.
Thanks for this nice editor.
