Thats right, latest AVG found the virus. I think its false alert.
Just use v4.1.1

I have manually added NP++ as viewer in my I.E.6, and it opens ok (with desired
file too).
And I don't have the standard path, but I use NP++ from another drive.

Have you tried to edit the registry in another computer and see if it works
there?  Might be just your Windows having problems...

Also, I wish there was an option in NP++ to set it as the default viewer/editor,
just like PSPad has one.

It could be interesting to be able to display result of find in a file like
find in files result. The way of displaying find result is very useful
and interesting.
I think that it will improve notepad++ even if it is already very very good.

When I drag read-only files into Notepad++, they sometimes appear empty.  I
have never had this happen when I open a read-only file from the normal 
File:Open
dialog, but I don't do that very often so for all I know it happens there 
sometimes,
too.

Have you tried Plugins/TextFX Edit/ReWrap?  If you don't want the newlines 
inserted
at column 72, then you need to get the column number into the clipboard first.
Slightly weird, but it works.

I run AVG Antivirus Free Edition.

The virus definitions 269.10.4/896 (dated 11-Jul-2007) says that notepad++.exe
(version 4.1.2) contains a virus of name "Tojan Horse Generic5.HLS"

This is of course a false positive.

By downgrading Notepad++ to version 4.1.1 I can run the program okay without
AVG kicking-in.

I have tried deleting the exe and getting the latest from SF (just in case it
was not the exe but my system) but the latest exe from the servers triggers
AVG again.

This appears to only be a problem on Notepad++ v4.1.2
