Hi...
I'm the author of the DBGP plugin for N++. This is the plugins page:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/npp-plugins/
It's a separate project on the SF site where most plugins are hosted. It would
be nice if a link to it could be put on the main Notepad++ site (*hint*)...
To do remote debugging of a script you need a server side component (debugging
engine) and a debugging client. The plugin is the client in this case. This
plugin speaks the DBGP protocol. For debugging of PHP you have to install the
(really great) XDebug php extension. I don't know where to find an extension
for perl. I do know that it's a part of Komodo, I have not heard of other
implementations. Here is some info, google for more:
http://aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/docs/Komodo/4.1/komodo-doc-debugperl.html
I'll warn you right away, it's not easy to set this thing up and I have little
to none experience with PERL. I'm however keen on extending this plugin so it
will work with perl, we'd need to do a lot of mailing though.
Best regards..
-Zobo

That message will return the "id" of the current scintilla (0 or 1), not its
handle :
http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/plugins-HOWTO.php
--------
NPPM_GETCURRENTSCINTILLA
wParam : 0
lParam : [out] int * currentEdit
currentEdit indicates the current Scintilla view : 0 is the main Scintilla view
1 is the second Scintilla view.
--------
in your function, to return the handle of the current scintilla, you should
do something like that :
if(CurEdit=0) result:= scintillaMainHandle;
else result:= scintillaSecondHandle;

ok, that clarifies, thanks
Other question then: if you have 2 files open in N++
are that two different scintilla instances?
In other words, can you look through the contents of one file, while you 'see'
another file in N++?

bonjour,
A+

TortoiseSVN is indeed very nice, and integrates well into windows explorere,
but sadly not into Notepad++.
If the 'light explorer' in Notepad++ would only display the TortoiseSvn contex
menu items, and updated the icon overlays, that would constitute excellent svn
support built in practicaly for free.
OK, a few keyboard shortcuts might be nice...

HI,
I had a very good GFC running under OS/2, but I havn't the code !
It aws written by Barney Scott, IBM Husley, UK, 1994 !!!!
Unfortunattely, I have never found the same kind of tool under unix or windows.
Your compare plugin is a good step in this direction.
As very usefull options, GFC has:
- a composite view, with interleaved unmatched lines (matched lines are shown
once)
- without interleave, the 2 files are displayed by line number
- 3 colors of text : file 1, file 2, matched lines
- 3 colors of background : idem
- on the right of screen, 2 graphic lines, with colored cursors, give an idea
where you are in the text (very useful in a long source file)
At this era, an usefull fonction copy/paste was implemented !
Do you think your plugging would be able to produce a composite view ?
Sorry, I'm not able to get a screen copy to send you.
regards
ChA

I just tested the file I use to check out UTF capabilities
<http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/ucs/examples/UTF-8-demo.txt> and found
the following:
If the file is saved with no BOM it is opened as ANSI in Notepad++. If I add
a BOM it opens correctly. If I remove the BOM (within Notepad++) and re-save
it opens as ANSI again.

ok, but since this means getting the whole buffer into your plugin:
/* get text of current scintilla and copy to buffer to hidden scintilla */
length = ::SendMessage(g_hSource, SCI_GETTEXTLENGTH, 0, 0)+1;
buffer = (char*)new char[length];
::SendMessage(g_hSource, SCI_GETTEXT, length, (LPARAM)buffer);
what the advantage above just getting the whole buffer into your plugin and
process it there?

Sorry I was not clear.
Yes you can build np++ with MS VC++ 2005 Express and the Platform SDK
The current problem is that the source download for 4.2 is missing the
PowerEdit/src/font directory. It is also missing from the svn. However it is
present in the cvs which was still accessible just now although the link has
disappeared from the sourceforge site.
I use the cvs under cygwin bash and use the following command.
"cvs -d:pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/cvsroot/notepad-plus
co notepad-plus"
windows tools such as tortoise cvs should do the same.
The font directory was also available in older source distributions. The font
directory contains only linedraw.ttf.
Microsoft foundation classes are not used by np++ and so are not required.
The np++ makes use of the scintilla control and the source for this is included
in the scintilla directory. To compile the scintilla control open a dos box
and change to the scintilla/win32 directory. and execute the following command
"nmake -f scintilla.mak"
this presumes that you have set up the path, include and lib environment
variables
to suit. If your are not familiar with this ask again. This will produce
scintilla.dll in scintilla/bin.
Now browse to notepad-plus/PowerEditor/visual.net and double click
on notepadplus.vcproj.
If your file associates are correctly set this should open msvc++. Click on
Build menu and select build solution.
The compile should proceed. If your do not have the font directory you will
find the post build event will report an error copying the font/linedraw.ttf.
Otherwise the compile will complete.

Thanks...
I was however thinking about adding a link to the "Notepad++ plugins" project
page. As this example shows many don't even know it exists.
Best regards.

Hi all,
I'm working on a plugin which allows you to filter a text file to certain
conditions.
Something like requests from these threads:
http://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3999048
http://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=4067136
http://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=4374993
suggestions are welcome, if you're interested in testing what's here so far
reply here.
