Yeah, thanks.
But for someone who has just started learning it, it's not that easy...

Thanks for pointing that out! I didn't have the Platform SDK installed.
I followed the instructions on Microsoft's website.

I am now able to build NP++ with VC++ Express Edition.
I haven't even used any nmake command...
I didn't have to read any environment variable stuff.

The only problem I seem to have now, is that every other compile is
(un)successful.
I seem to get the same error for the 'missing' linedraw.ttf each first time.
When I immediately build the solution again, it succeeds rightaway.

Thank you very much for your explanations.

Where in the Notepad++ project is linked to this scintilla/bin folder?

I suppose I should see changes in the scintilla source code reflected when NP++
is built again. Currently, this doesn't seem to be the case.

I can confirm that this problem exists on Windows XP, 2000, and Vista. Any
filename
or path with unicode characters fails to open in Notepad++ (but opens just fine
in Windows notepad).

There's a FTP Plugin here: http://www.mediafire.com/?2mlillnywuq

Search this list for 'ftp' and you'll find the original post about the plugin,
with the author's comments.

Um... nice job...but...hmmm... is it just me (it could be to do with the
language
preferences on my laptop being set to English) but shouldn't the titles for
those forums actually be in the language they represent?

:)

Imho I think it would be cool to do that.

I wonder if Notepad++ has support for Git another similar free version control
system? I'm especially interested in trying Git out.

For those who don't know Git is the versioning control system that Linus
Torvalds
made/uses for the Linux kernel. http://git.or.cz (yes weird address I know)

Have the same problem some time ago, and have then reported in this forum.
Unfortunately did not get any response from anyone. It seems like nobody is
really interested.

maybe i have little experience of this.

now i use zip version. this version can be unzipped to a single folder to run
and also can be uninstalled by delete this folder.

i dont use the setup version. i think some folders will be created in different
place on your PC. so if you want to uninstall npp you can not delete this single
main folder only.

as for zip version when updating to latest version all *.xml and *.ini should
be bakuped to hold the old configuration. it seems for the setup version just
install.

Notepad++ requires scilexer.dll. To compile it requires only the include files
in scintilla\include. But to run it must find scilexer.dll.
Scilexer.dll is built from scintilla source code as I have indicated above.
This file must then be in your path or the directory in which notepad++.exe
resides so that it can be found at run time.
If you have note compiled scintilla you are only half way there.

I agree that mapping configuration require more detailed documentation,
especially
in plugin parts. Maybe very usefull will have some type of internal action that
allow to gather menu codes.
But currently (v4.2.2) it is possible only change exists plugins mappings but
does not possible to create new.
