I apologize if this has been covered but I simply want to use the 'compare'
plugin to compare two files so I load the first file in a tab, then the second
one in another tab, open a third tab a type 'alt-d' for compare.
What am I missing? There wasn't a help file with the plugin.

Hurrah! So far no crashes at all whatever I do, using the plug-in or not,
logging
on, editing files, all other plug-ins loaded - all OK so far.
I knew if I kept nagging you'd get there in the end :-))

I also was confused by how to use this. I don't believe I've ever used the
View > Go to another view option before. Maybe a very short note added to the
About window would be helpful just to get people started on how to use it.
But thank you for this excellent addition to N++! I have been wanting something
like this for a while.

Not a simple answer, was it? It required the source code and a suitable
compiler
to change the behavior to suit you. If you were smart enough to do that, why
aren't you smart enough to realize that few even know what you are talking
about,
and fewer would know what's wrong -- and fewer still would know how to fix it.
Of those, how many visit the forum often enough? It's only been a week for
me since my last visit, but that wasn't short enough for you.
If folks don't know an answer, they tend to not reply -- so the only replies
will be from the a**holes like you and me. :-P Especially since your attitude
might tend to keep others from even making the attempt to help...
I do thank you for telling the rest of us how you fixed it, though. :)

I see.... the whole thing with panels was very different. I was trying to use
'File -> New' (tab) not 'Clone view etc.'

FTP Fas to Connect
OK - I know this sounds crazy but...
I can connect to FTPservA from NPP and all works fine.
I can connect to FTPservB from a Win XP Pro Command Prompt using "ftp
FTPservB".
But from NPP, I don't even see any responses from FTPservB. (No Connection is
made at all)
I suspect something something differs btwn FTPservA & FTPservB. Most obvious
is that they reside on different subnets, but when Win ftp works, I think just
about any ftp should work. Maybe you can help me by explaining how the NPP ftp
differs from the Win ftp - if at all?
I really love this plug-in!!!
Ask for Password
Two things here:
1. Should focus automatically be moved to the prompt dialogue box?
2. I do not get a remote dir display when I enter the password.
I don't normally use this feature, but thought I would try it for the connect
problem.

I published a new version of Explorer. Now all known issues are fixed.
This version is tested on W2k and XP. Let me know if there are troubles on other
OS.

Well the main connection itself should be exactly the same. Only one port is
opened for the control connection (thats the main connection) directly with
the server (that is, if no NAT is being used, if so than it still should work),
I believe that most FTP applications do this. Is there any response from the
server at all? What does the messagelog display? If it shows nothing, could
you give me the address of the FTP server, no username or password is needed,
jsut to check the connection. If its private then ofcourse I'd have to figure
something else out ;).
As for the password thing, do you mean the focus should go to the edit box?
I personally think so aswell, hadn't noticed it yet.
I do see the password gets send incorrectly, I'll go fix that
