Yes, in other way, a backspace should remove x spaces like it removes tabs.
Tabs and x spaces should have same behavior with backspace-key.

I have a crash that's occurring with a certan set of files but not with others.
The file sizes are reasonalbe (under 10MB) and there's really nothing too
special
out them. The files themselves open in notepad just fine in fact.
Notepad++ is terminating itself so quickly after the first chance exception
that I can't seem to generate a memory dump of the process. About all the
debugdiag
can capture is below:

the new version is really great beside this navigation window that

Like wehn we save the file, could we please get the option

I found a crash problem when I sort the files in tab bar.
The procedure is:
1. I have a session with several files open (about ten)
2. The last file on the tab is i.e. fff.c
3. I open a file named i.e. bbb.c (and this is the current view)
4. I want to sort the files in the tab bar so open this window and sort by
name and by type
5. When I push Ok the current view is bbb.c but on the tab bar the current file
with the orange top bar drawed is fff.c !!
6. and if I go with the mouse on the fff.c tab and click, npp crashes
I hope the situation is clear.

It doesnt work for me.
I have npp 4.3 and Compare plugin 1.1.
I got my two panels using the "go to another view" but still nothing happens
when I invoke Compare (either fomr the menu or alt+D).
What am I doing wrong?

I've been having this issue for the past 2 or 3 versions (now using 4.3) but
under my Shortcut Mapper #29 & 30 show no NAME but do have SHORTCUTS
(Ctrl+Shift_TAB
& Ctrl+TAB).
I don't mind the no name part, but when I try to change these to something else
(like Ctrl+PgUp & Ctrl+PgDn) it works for the current session but not after
an exit & restart.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume the problem is something w/my
system and NOT the software - does anybody have suggestions on where I should
start poking to figure this thing out?

There is a plugin available for viewing differences. See
http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/download.php (it's called Compare, and
it currently the 4th last in the list.
Note that it only works if the files are already displayed side by side - see
http://notepad-plus.wiki.sourceforge.net/Multi-ViewHowTo for details about that.

I used to use EditPlus for my Windows Text Editing until now I found there is
a FreeWare NotePad++.
But there some suggestion:
1> should specify reload Encoding. For Example: I now view some files in GBK
encoding under Window XP Japanese Edition, I could not view it correctly.
Suggestion
: Command "Reload from disk" change to "Reaload As ...", then appear a dialog
box for Selecting Encoding!
2> should be able to call outer Programs, so some people can use it to compile
a sample Java source.
3> can as default view sa IE's Source Viewer!
4> should call Current Browser to view current Html, XML,files.
all these functions the EditPlus is Supported. NotePad++ Develpers may reference
it. Wish NotePad++ become NotePad#, :)!

I also found a crash problem with the syntax highlighting
The procedure:
1) open a file with a user-defined syntax highlighting (SH)
2) change SH to 'normal text'
3) change back to user-defined SH
4) NPP crash
my system:
NPP version 4.3
