Yes, you are right. It's absolutely rubbish if you have no question mark on
your keyboard. You should throw away your computer rightaway, but only if you
are sure the problem is not inside your head. Then, of course, there is another
solution and your computer can be saved, as Notepad++ is for a whole community
to enjoy.

Using Notepad++ v4.3.
Editing a data text file to put a string of '0.0000' in a column of spaces (300
lines x 6 spaces wide) that has been column marked. Using the Replace dialog
with the 'In Selection' checkbox checked.
Problem:
The replace is taking place OUTSIDE the selected area where it is damaging valid
spaces in other fields. This isn't how this works in any other editor I've
used with columnar marking capability. What am I doing wrong? Or is this a
bug?

Hi there guys, love the program. We use it at work all the time and I'm
constantly
having to copy text over from a Word document into a plain text document. Each
time I do this, I have to replace Word's "smart" characters (slanted quotes,
em dashes, etc.). It's easy enough for me to batch search and replace in all
of my .txt files, but I'd like to be able to get this into a macro so I can
just press one button and the program searches through all of my open files
and finds every one of Word's smart characters, replacing them with regular
text. I've tried to macro record my actions but it doesn't seem to recognize
it because there's no save action after I do it. Any idea if there is a way
to do this?

Hi!
I want my np++ to look like this:
http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/5316/npstylesqf1.png
For .txt (and maybe some other extensions) I would like to have black background
and orange font.
But for the rest (c, html, ...) I would like to use the predefined styles by
default.
When I edit the global styles to black background, the rest looks shit:
http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/1507/npstyles2gk5.png
When I define a custom language, I can only edit the font of keywords etc. But
I can't define a color for the whole background where no text is. So this
language
looks just as shit.
At the moment I have two notepad++ folders. One normal and one with a customized
global style.
But this sucks because I can't open np++ twice and as I already explained in
the normal one my .txt files are white ("normal text" language) and in the
customized
one C++,HTML etc looks shit (see above).
What I need is basically a custom language in the "styler configurator" where
I can edit background colors etc.
Or is there another way to achieve this??
I actually thought this would be pretty easy to do. =(

I have tried searching the missed identifiers, but it did not show out.
Also, I have tried searching in the ctags.tmp, the identifiers does not exist
in the file.

>What do you mean "can NP++'s keywords support regular exp"?
=======================================
i use a language named *.SP and *.CIR file which is used in electronic circuit
design. i define keyword by myself. in this type of files i want to highlight
some speacial words(keyword) such as
*
Vbatt VBATT 0 batt pwl 0 2 10m 5.0
Vin VIN 0 dvin pwl 0 0 10u dvin
eVddp VDDP 0 vin 0 1 max=5.26
*
i want to highlight those word: 1. must be at the begin of one line; 2. all
words whose first letter is "v". so, if using regular exp, the syntax is "^v*".
================================================================================
========
>If you mean additional keywords, which you can type in Style configurator,
than answer is >No. They (or maybe some of them - depending on lexer) only
support
^ symbol which >means "starts with". So that "^some" will match "something"
and "someword".
========================
i can see many default language in style configurator, but as for user definfed
language i can not see anything.

Using regex it'll be "^v.*". But no, keywords don't support it. All that you
can do - is to highlight EVERY word starting with "v" - simply check "prefix"
checkbox and type "v" in keywords group. To do something more comlex you'll
need to write your own lexer and add support for it to NP++ sources.

Hi,
start Notepad++, switch the language to PHP and paste this piece of PHP code:
<CUT>
<?
break;
}
}
if($i==1){
?> </DataItem>
</DataItemCollection>
<?
}
}
?> </DataItemGroup>
</DataDefinition>
<?
$xml=ob_get_clean();
resetBuffer($buffer);
return $xml;
}
?>
</CUT>
Ok, it's not a working code, there's something missing at the beginning - but
even if I'd post the full code, the code highlighting would stop at this line:
<CUT>
?> </DataItemGroup>
</CUT>
Any suggestions?
Regards,
nd

try using <?php %)
inserting 4 any symbols (spaces for example) after <? also helps... don't know
why %)
