If you have it set up as portable, then Notepad++ loads all of its settings
from its program folder. Download the Brazilian Portuguese language file from
the Download page or use the following link:

http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/commun/nativeLanguageFiles/brazilian_portugu
ese.xml

Rename it to nativeLang.xml, and copy it into your Notepad++ program folder.

I think this will work. I've never used an alternate language file; I'm just
going by the instructions on the Download page and my own knowledge of Notepad++
running in portable mode.

I couldn't see what you were talking about at first, but then I realized, you're
talking about lines that are indented with tabs or spaces, right?

I almost got it with a Macro, but not quite. You can record a Macro that
simulates
hitting the HOME key twice. I tried saving it to the HOME key, but apparently
the Macro engine is too smart to be fooled like that. I can select it from
the menu and it works fine, but if I press the HOME key it just does its default
behavior. This makes sense; if it didn't take this into account it might end
up in some kind of infinite loop. If you don't mind using a different key than
HOME, it might work. One of the function keys, possibly.

By the way, did you know that Alt+HOME puts you at the beginning of the line?
Of course, this is just as much work as hitting the HOME key twice, so it's
not really a workaround.

I wish I could be more helpful, but this is all I can come up with.

How about this:?

Select text.
Press CTRL+F to copy the selected text to the Find Dialog.
Press Esc to quit the Dialog.
Press CursorLeft key to move to the start of the found selected text.
Type the opening tag.
Press F3 to find the text: it will be selected again.
Press CursorRight key to move to the end of the selected text.
Type closing tag.

This doesn't mess with the Clipboard, but of course it does with your last
search.
Be sure, before you perform these actions, all settings in the CTRL+F Find
Dialog
are correct.
For instance, uncheck Regular Expression and be sure the Search Direction
matches
the order in which you want to perform your changes (in this case: Down).

As the original maker of this error message, I have something to say in this
thread.

There was no any intention of provocation, it's just a non conventional error
message for me. Nothing more, nothing less.

A program crashed, and an error message displayed. An unprofessional attitude
for me is change the error message instead of fixing the crash problem.

If I wanted to make a conventional program, which satisfies the conservatives,
makes everybody happy and makes a lot of money, then I would release Notepad++
as a commercial product. Since you didn't pay for it, why don't you just remove
Notepad++ from your computer and end story? I don't think it's the way to show
regard for others by imposing your feeling and your vision to the others.

I don't think neither this error message will be offensive to 70% of Americans.
If it will, then too bad - Notepad++ doesn't deserve this audience.

Don

This doesn't seem to work because of the CTRL+F Find Dialog not being recorded
into the Macro.

I tried using CTRL+F3 and then immediately CTRL+SHIFT+F3 to select the first
time and CTRL+F3 to select the second time. Unfortunately, this will select
no text the second time and the cursor will move just one position to the right
from the start of the selected text. So this also doesn't work. Apparently,
the selected text isn't remembered when replaying the Macro.

I saved a session in NPP 4.3 prior to upgrading to 4.5, and now I can't open
the old session. I know I can just re-open the files, but it still seems like
a bug. I tried renaming "current-list" to "current-list.session", as per the
setting in the options, but it didn't help. NPP just sits there when I say "Load
Session..."

heh... or supply the patch.

Personally I think we should stick to CTRL-TAB as it is standard in other
programs.
IE Firefox uses the same method.

I'm gonna pipe in one more time cause I mispelled (oh crap how do you spell
that) snipping with sniping in my only other post.

Over my too many years using regular expression engines I have found more than
a couple differing implementations for matching at the starts and ends of lines.
Hence I actually got the guy's point in the original post. I can't remember
any elabortate explanation on how to use ^ and $ and I've had to give up on
them on more than a few occasions. I too wouldn't have expected ^ to match
more than once on a line but if that's what it's designed to do then so be it.
As long as the expert(s) here is sures, then that's good information. And if
true, I wonder if that is the better choice for functionality. Doesn't seem
like it to me either.

So what you are saying is that if you go away from the .vb extension you have
problems with the language settings next time you open it?

Notepad++ sets the styling and colouring based on what language is set to that
extension.

Registration??? What registration??? Nobody told me about registration! ;-)

PS:

I take it you are a fellow Kiwi with a alias like that. :)
