Isn't this functionality already there using the WinHighlight plugin with
WinHighlight? Works for me here, or are we talking about something else?

Bob.

*lol* try underscores to show your spaces

Use Find and Replace (either CTRL+F/CTRL+H or CTRL+R) with Regular Expressions
checked.

Find:
_+

Replace
_

Where _ stands for a single space character.

Replace all occurrences (at once) if there are no multiple space characters
you want to keep anywhere.

What do you mean by "copy current line", which shortcut?

If you duplicate a line by using CTRL+D, you can then move it to the desired
location by using CTRL+SHIFT in combination with CursorUP or CursorDOWN.

I also noticed that splitting and joining lines at least isn't very intuitive.
It doesn't seem to work.

> Can't WINE run on a mac? Notepad++ works just fine in wine.

WINE is an X11 program, and does work on OS X 10.4.x. Unfortunately, there are
reports of problems with X11 under OS X 10.5.x (Leopard). That said, I have
not tried to run Wine under OS X just to run Notepad++. I don't do a lot of
coding on my MacBookPro, and find rText (a Java-based editor) does what I need
there.

While you can run Bootcamp, it requires you to have to dual boot your Mac. You
still need a licensed copy of Windows to be able to do this. Another alternative
for this would be to use one of the virtual machine programs - VMWare,
Parallels,
VirtualBox, etc. Again though, you must have a licensed copy of Windows to
create
your virtual machine. I use Parallels on my MacBookPro, also VMWare player (I
make my VMWare virtual machines on a Windows box).

Bob.

daily use: UTF-8 as standard and HTML-coloured export, as SciTe and PsPad do).
Keep up the good work! (and merry xmas ;-) )

Take a look at WinHighlight (HighlightCode Converter) here:
http://www.andre-simon.de/

Note that he has a plugin for Notepad++. Works great for my needs. (not involved
with either project except as a happy user)

Bob.

Split line splits a line when its larger than the current view. Its a bit liek
wordwrap but more permanent :).
Join line joins the selected lines (better said, it joins the lines that occur
in the current selection).

Hi all,

As promised I did some testing on utf-8 and Npp. Following is the body of a
letter to the scintilla developer and to Don.

Happy Holidays to all!
Idris

=====================================================
I've done some testing. Since I don't quite understand the relationship between
scintilla in Npp and the original (as used in Scite) I'm writing you both.

It seems that scintilla uses an old unicode or else has some severe utf-8 bugs.
I think it's the former. On the Npp forum there have been a number of reports
of Persian, Azeri-latin, and Mongolian cyrillic users being unable to input
utf-8 characters in Npp/scintilla, but having no problems with other Windows
editor-components. I installed some of these keyboards and was able to reproduce
the errors for the afected characters. Today I made a keyboard layout for the
Latin Extended Additional unicode block. Upon activating it I came across the
same problem: many characters show up as ? marks, whereas in other editors they
show up fine.

Instead of looking at this problem character-by-character, it seems that this
is a general error that requires some work in scintilla's unicode support. The
only thing these issues seem to have in common is that these characters seem
to all belong to more recent versions of unicode.

If there is anything else I can do to help, please let me know.
=====================================================

Right. For those who choose to suffer through the use of Vista... Anyone have
a solution for using this app on a Vista box? I was getting the error message
above followed by another, '1002'. At this point, Vista asks if I want to allow
the operation every time I try to open a file. I'm sure the answer is simple.
If anyone has the generosity to supply it that would be awesome. Thanks. -Eric
