Listen, you sucker, we use Notepad++, a free open source editor for
programmers.
Do you think we are interested in a site named moneymakeyourich?

You must be real dumb. We don't need to pay, so we don't need any money.
And we certainly don't have time for your stupid message.

here is my problem:
- the keywords are "SET TO TRUE PERFORM UNTIL OR ACCEPT AT END-PERFORM"
- my text block begining is "section perform"
- my text block ending is "exit end-perform"

I have these lines

      *-----------------------------------------------------------------
       jn-Fragen section.
      *
       00.
           set Antwort-leer to true
           perform until antwort-j or antwort-n
              accept jn-abfrage at 2078
           end-perform
      *
           continue.
       ex. exit.
      *-----------------------------------------------------------------

When I switch the case-sensitive thing to off I see the blocks correctly. When
I switch it to on there is no block anymore but I see my text higlihted in the
right syntax.

What do I do wrong?

Better Hard Tabs/Spaces conversion feature.

It would be nice that the option to convert tabs to spaces could be less
"General"
as it is now ( its in "Settings/Preferences/MISC" menu a it affects all
languages
you can work on...) and could be configured in a more "Language specific" basis.
For example: in Python we should convert hard tabs to spaces to have the code
correctly indented and thats what I always do, but in PHP or C++ I like and
prefer not to uses spaces but real tabs instead!... And it is not that
comfortable
having to change that option all the time.

Anyway, a wonderful application! By far, my favorite programming text editor
and viewer!

Thanks.

Paulo Oliveira,
Portugal.

I started making a quick change to SimpleScript so that I could use it
to automatically compile the chapters of a book into a single document, then
got carried away and made some more substantial changes.

As it turns out, creating a dockable form isn't as hard as I had expected.
So I changed the modal form to a dockable form instead. Since this was the
most requested feature, I decided to upload it now rather than wait to finish
all of the functions I had planned for version 1.1.

Version 1.07 also includes the following new features:

Run From Clipboard/ Validate Script on Clipboard menu options.

Run Script menu option has been relabeled to Simple Script.

Repeat Last Script automatic hot key has been removed, because there should
be less of a need for it now that the form is no longer modal. You can still
assign a hot key to it through the Notepad++ Shortcut mapper.

AppendFile and SaveToFile* functions have been added.

*For now, SaveToFile doesn't use the Notepad++ save because I'm still trying
to figure out the best way to integrate it. Until I determine that, Notepad++
doesn't recognize that the file is saved if you use this function in a script.

To further the dialoge on this, and to shamelessly bump it back to the top of
the Help forum, I have another comment/thought...

Is it feasible to make use of the regexp syntax in creating rules for the Folder
Open Keywords and Folder Close Keywords? This would greatly serve to make my
struggles go away.

Please review and advise. Thanks!

I have experienced where this can be problematic - having multiple applications
running and needing to quickly verify what file is being edited without having
to refocus the editor, can make the path being visible somewhat frustrating.

I have found that I am OFTEN editing multiple documents in NPP and as a result,
the text on the toolbar button has become almost useless to me, and I suspect
that it is for those others who use it to edit multiple files concurrently.
So, I can see no immediate reason why it would be bad.

...

Now that I've stated that, I think that the window title and the task bar text
are tied together in the windows API. I would have a HUGE problem if the full
path wasn't shown in the window title...

The more that I am thinking about this I am thinking that there is an option
to do what you are wanting - display of file name only in title?

Go ahead and search thru the GUI and also herein and on the mainpage for NPP.
This smacks of familiarity...

Happy Holidays, all.

Not to hijack the thread, but rather to expand on one of the suggestion that
the initial poster made. I want to key in on something that I am not grasping
with the execution of external applications:

>> Define a place to run a compiler (or other app) on the current file
>> (and possibly display output from that command in a window)

> Use NppExec - BTW, the newest version will come out soon. It's very sweety
;)

Don, I have been making use of the Run Dialogue as you have explained here:
http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/run-HOWTO.php

I have found that once configured properly, that there isn't much that I need
to do that I can not... For those more complex tasks, I use a scripting tool
like Perl or AutoHotKey. It is nice to be in the Editor, and be able to click
a single NPP menu item and have the source opened up in my embedded MCU tools,
compiled, flashed, and ran, all via a single keystroke/mouse click inside of
NPP - Wicked Frigging Kewl if you ask me.!. Kudos.

What I am struggling with, in the context of this thread, is the specific
reference
you make to the NPPExec Plugin. Can you please explain what the plugin brings
to the table that the Run Dialogue doesn't?

Also, to add to the features suggestions, is there a means to add buttons to
the tool bar specifically for the use of kicking off external commands? i.e.
have the ability to link user-added button to Run Dialogue commands?

Finally, specific to the NPPExec Plugin (DV & Don) if you are going to migrate
over to that in lieu of the Run Dialogue, will there eventually be a means to
do hot-key mapping to the saved scripts?

Don, and others, it is often said, but never more heartfelt, Thank you for such
a fine product!!!

Take care. Have a great new year!

DoGooder - this is totally inappropriate:

"...preferably without being an asshole while they're doing it."

In your original post, it is not so much the content that elicited the response
you got, but rather the delivery. You came across as pretty critical and
judgmental.
Taking a second to reread a pending post, before hitting the submit button,
often gives one another chance to digest what it is they're typing, and how
others might receive same. If there is ANY chance that someone else might
misinterpret what it is your saying, then simply stop and re-word it, or don't
submit and revisit it later, when in a different frame of mind.

I respectfully suggest that you take a step back from this, swallow the pride,
and try to be a bit more objective in the execution of your posting.

Let your actions herein live up to your 'handle' ("Do Good'er"), not the stench
of the arse-end of one of our four-legged friends, please...

I would ALWAYS like my tabs to remain tabs. Therefor, you suggest, I set this
behavior for ANY language I am working in... That isn't user friendly.

I suggest you simple replace all your tabs by spaces by using the replace dialog
or the Simple Script Plug-In. You will only have to do it once for every file
or (before) every save.
