One more suggestion: perhaps you could add string qualifiers to the hints in
the Functions pane. I had to find out which character I had to use to get rid
of the "Error 2: malformed string" message. Alternatively, you might mention
the type of each value (string or text), but then again it would be nice to
know what character is used to identify that type.

The HOME and END keys don't seem to have any effect in the Script Writer.

Notepad may appear overwhelming because it can do so much but it can also be
used very simply. I am normally a programmer and look forward to using N++
for programming in the future but my current job doesn't involve much
programming.

I use N++ in place of Notepad for everything now. One of the best features
for general use is that you can right click a file and choose to open it in
Notepad++.

I think you will find that you will get used to N++ very quickly and will even
start using the HTML specific features like syntax highlighting that make it
so nice.

This was my all time favorite everyday finger-saver feature in TextPad.
For many reptitive tasks, where lines are more or less uniform, for example
when adding tabs or characters to a line,
it was great to be able to simply move the cursor up/down and have it go to
the end/begining of the next line, not simply drop straight down or go straight
up.

The way it is now, I have to move the cursor over manually, and it kills my
finger pressing the left/right arrows so many times, not to mention time
consuming.

Thanks, and best regards,
Bryan

Dear Colleagues...I have been given the URL:

  http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net

? to download a programme that separates HTML Tags and Text by Colour. Can
anyone give me a lead as to where I should look on the Site to obtain this
particular feature? I can see no mention of it in a cursory inspection.

  Regards

  David

This problem happens becase the updater GUP.exe is opened every time Notepad++
is launch. Windows Vista blocks some softwares that try to use de internet to
check their updates.

To "solve" this problem, go to Configurations, Preferences. In Preferences
window,
choose Other tab and disable the option "Enable Notpad++ auto-updater".

As far as I know, you only have to do that once: move the cursor to the end
or beginning of the line. Move it to the beginning before you move up or down.
Move it to the end after you reached your destination line.

Can you imagine what a pain it would be for users who like the current behavior,
if they had to move the cursor back to where it was horizontally for each line
they move up or down?

UltraEdit have a feature call ruler which is much like the npp vertical edge
line but have 2 line max. Is it possible to implement this feature in npp with
unlimited vertical lines & presetable colours? It's useful in doing ascii art
work. Thnx for the great work!

I hope npp can implement support for unicode filesystem instead. This is a
common
problem for open source project where the application can't open a file with
unicode name or reside in a unicoded path/directory in win32 environment. Even
the famous Firefox fail here.

Hi... I hope this is an easy one for somebody. I have an HTML file that also
has PHP inline and has the extension of .PHP, so I guess that would make it
a PHP file. After creating and editing, I upload the file to my webserver.
Everything looks great. Later if I want to edit the file that I uploaded, I
use Filezilla to download the copy and open it up in NP++. All the text (HTML
& PHP) are on one loooooong line. I turn on word wrap and it does wrap, but
all the indenting and formatting that I do personally to make my code easier
to read is gone.

Is this because the file has gone through some conversion when uploading to
the webserver? If so, what's the solution? I would like to be able to keep
my formatting so I can read the code easier when I need to grab a copy from
the server.

Thanks!
JR

FTP has an ASCII transfer option which alters the newlines, so this may be your
probleme (especially if the file is written in Unicode). See if you can turn
on Binary transfers (there is also a FTP plugin for Notepad++ btw).
