OK, OK ... I hadn't searched the forum for older messages..

For those that think is not required: They are surely not used to work in a
multi-programmer environment where hundreds of source files (all located in
different folders) are available for use in several different projects. It's
a pity it isn't present, It is surely indispensable for a complete programmers
editor. So I'll stick with my current editor.

Still I would like to congratulate the programmer Don Ho for a very nice piece
of work. I hope he'll integrate a project explorer once....

Regards,

Pieter

Thanks, the Window Manager plugin is a nice alternative for the time being.
I guess it could act as a replacement too, but I'd like to hide the tab bar
while using it! :P

By XP style tabs, I meant tabs that are skinned with the Windows skin, and not
using the old Win 95/98/2k style.

The "official" version which the updater checks is still at 4.6, because that's
the latest bugless release. Once 4.7 is stable, the updater will be updated
to check for that.

Does this still happen when you disable all plugins? I made a line (2 actually)
with 65536 characters (more are not displayed) and only scrolling took loads
of CPU but it didnt hang or lag.

I noticed that too when I changed the scrollbar, but Scintilla ignores CR/LF
when calculating length. The problem is, i do not know of any method to
accuratly
determine the size of the CR/LF icons. You could add an empty margin of a
constant
size (20px orso) but theres still a chance it wont fit (if you zoom in for
example).
I thought leaving it as is and making use of the unlimited scroll by using the
arrow would be better.

Disclaimer: since recent posts show that people tend to get 'aggressive' when
some personal preference is applied, let me say that the whole point of the
new scrollbar was to avoid using constants that would get inaccurate in some
or many cases.

My 2 cents

Did you install over the old one or did you uninstall the old one first?

Try deleting first %appdata%\notepad++ and %prgramfiles%\notepad++
and then install it!

Hi, I have actually problems changing the encoding of "/Config/$pluginname.xml"
from Windows-1252 to UTF-8.
I'm replacing the Windows-1252 in the XML-Header to UTF-8 and changing the
coding
of the file to UTF-8 in N++.
After that the file seems to get ignored without any messages. The external
languages will show up in the languages menu but not in the style configuration.
Any idea what I made wrong?
Thanks

The uninstalling & deleting idea worked! Hmmm, never encountered that issue
in previous versions. Regardless, thanks!

I've successfully used the Notepad Replacement Notepad++ Launcher on WinXP but
have had no luck getting it to work on Vista x64. Notepad++ itself works with
no problems but but only when is simply far superior to the MS offering. I
have installed Notepad++ on Vista x64 but can't get Notepad++ to auto launch.
Anyone have a solution?

im trying to do a column edit, is there any way to get np++ to layout like excel
along a grid based field so each tab shows up in a aligned column with the rest
of the information?

I've been using notepad++ for at least 2 years now for professional php and
web development. I have it open every single day, and I'm doing some pretty
intensive stuff. I can count the number of exceptions that NPP has thrown on
1 hand. Actually, on 1 finger, because it has only errored one time. This
is on XP pro, 2003 server and Vista business ultimate. 3 pretty diverse flavors
of windows. Based on my experience, I'd have to say this is one solid product,
and the user reporting the errors probably has some pretty serious problems
with his/her own system, or just doesn't have the brain capacity to use NPP.

Don Ho, thanks for the phenomenal product, great job!

Also, I have a screenshot of the error message displayed from the one exception
I've ever gotten with NPP. It is actually pretty funny. I'm guessing you
probably
know what it is already Don, but if interested, let me know and I'll email it
to you. Thanks again,

John
