I've got Notepad++ installed on two Win XP SP2 machines, and it regularly
crashes
when the application starts after double-clicking on a file. Usually, simply
renaming the file or copying it into the same folder allows Notepad++ to open
the file.

For example, I double-click on the following file:

C:\Documents and Settings\cclg\My Documents\file.txt

Notepad++ fails, and the error report's signature has the following
information:

App-Name: notepad++.exe  AppVer: 4.7.5.0  ModName: notepad++.exe
ModVer: 4.7.5.0 Offset: 000578fb

If I simply copy and paste that file, so that its path becomes

C:\Documents and Settings\cclg\My Documents\Copy of file.txt

Then Notepad++ will happily open it when I double-click on it.

I've tried removing all the plugins (I've not installed anything other than
the basic application), but it makes no difference.

I've just upgraded from 4.5.0 to 4.7.5 but the behaviour is identical.

Any ideas? I'd say Notepad++ is failing on the majority of files in this way.

Hello,
I'm a happy Lithuanian Notepad++ user when I have to edit any text fin in
Windows
environment. However, the current state of the interface translation to
Lithuanian
is awful. There are too many errors and untranslated strings to be usable. At
this state it should be removed as it only hinders Lithuanian users' experience
using the program and I don't believe any of it could be reused to make a proper
Lithuanian translation.

Yours sincerely,
Domas Jokubauskis

Still, you can do it with the advanced file/replace, but you can't apply that
replacement to a group of files (like we can replace in all open documents).
And that's a life saver sometimes...
There's any way i can do that in notepad++ (i need to replace chuncks of HTML
code in some pages)?

Nope. Didn't work. Still get "It's not a valid GUP XML" error. This is only
happening on my system at work where I'm using the ZIP version of NPP (since
I don't have to run an install) and I'm behind a firewall and using a proxy.

At home, behind a firewall (no proxy) and using the installation it works
great!

Therefore, it might something related to the proxy or some port being blocked.

Harry,
Thank you for this plugin, it's actually much more handy than I expected it
to be. I did run into a bug when downloading from an IIS FTP site... when
FTP_synchronize goes to cache the path information, it cannot. I assume this
is because the root on this Windows machine I'm connecting to is D:\, and I'm
guessing that's causing the problem. Works great on Linux FTPs though ;)
Anyway,
no big rush on my part, but I thought you might like to know. Thanks again,
& keep up the good work!

here is a bug that is easy to to be checked
- open new file
- paste this text:
insert into ROLE_MODULE(ROLE_ID,MODULE_ID,ACCESS_TYPE_CODE) values(1376,88,'0')
- open search (tick regular expression on)
- search for :
insert into ROLE_MODULE\(ROLE_ID,MODULE_ID,ACCESS_TYPE_CODE\) values\(13
- find the string (search successful)
- search for :
insert into ROLE_MODULE\(ROLE_ID,MODULE_ID,ACCESS_TYPE_CODE\) values\(137
- can not find word !!

happy debugging :D

Any ideas how to change this?

The locale is set correctly in Windows and in all other apps the " and @ keys
perform as advertised!

Is possible to use the follow external program from the Run menu:

<Command name="Kdiff" Ctrl="yes" Alt="no" Shift="no"
Key="68">C:\Programmi\KDiff3\kdiff3.exe "$(LEFT_VIEW_FILE)"
"$(RIGHT_VIEW_FILE)"</Command>

I've tried it but it doesn't work (but it works if i use it in NppExec !!)

Any suggestion ?

Thanks

Mauro

Use a free text block replacer for that, like textrep:
http://www.free-to-try.com/textrep

As long as you don't need regex this will do. Of course, there are other tools
that can perform similar or even more difficult tasks.

Something similar has been reported before. This has to do with the length of
the regex. Try and find that message!

I have downgraded to version 4.6 until this can be resolved. Does anyone know
if this will be fixed or given an option to disable anytime soon?

Thanks.

Perhaps you'll remember your previous report about this:
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1877767&forum_id=331754

Why did you bring this up again?
Didn't you try to make you regex shorter?

Could you follow instructions here?:
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1848289&forum_id=734873

Ususally 'misunderstood' directory information triggers poor behaviour.
