[notepad-plus - Open Discussion] RE: Feature Request: RegularExpression cheats (SourceForge.net) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Message: 1 Date: Thu, 07 Feb 2008 05:11:05 -0800 From: "SourceForge.net" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: [Notepad-plus-plus] [notepad-plus - Open Discussion] a text file Notepad++ can't open, notepad can To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=4764672 By: nobody I have come across a situation where the standard notepad/WordPad applications (xpsp2) are able to open a text file which Notepad++ is unable to, and upon attempting to - first freezes and then the error message saying "Notepad++... has encountered a problem and needs to close...". The scenario is as follows: I am using an add-in (AutoSafeVBE from http://www.jkp-ads.com/download.asp) for a spreadsheet application which periodically saves the code for any macro code that I'm working on in a given directory. If my spreadsheet application crashes, which it is prone to doing (often!), then these files are left for me in the folder, otehrwise they are deleted when the file is closed. It's not only notepadd++ that has a problem with accessing them, copying the files to the same directory isn't possible for example - Access is Denied Error (though copying to another is fine at which point Notepad++ can open the file as usual, usually when copying to the same, files are renamed "Copy of " + original filename, but not in this case for some reason). So, this wouldn't be annoying if no application could access the files, but opening with notepad or WordPad works fine, and the code is displayed as it should be. I'm not at all aware of the problems / solutions, for all I know this "issue" is known about, but I have a simple view on this - Notepad++ can do everything most other text editors can do, but better and more! SO this is in no way a complaint. Thanks ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. The "error signature" lists module name "scilexer.dll" with version 1.7.3.0. I can reproduce the error consistently. Thanks. This release includes the following: Minor bugfixes in IncrementToTag and IncrementFromTag functions. Added: 2 new functions, especially useful for working with the Merge function. AppendNumberList(int LowNum, int HighNum, int LeadZero): Appends a list of numbers to the end of the document. AppendLetterList(string LowLetter, string HighLetter, int MakeLowerCase): Appends a list of letters or letter strings to the end of the document. Settings Window: Interface to SimpleScript.ini so you can work with settings, such as favorite scripts, script groups, and menu without having to edit the .ini file. SimpleScript.ini has now been moved to the Config folder. If you keep it in the plugins folder it will still read it, but if you work with the settings window it will save it out to the Config folder. I recommend you move your .ini file to the Config folder manually. Scripts on the Menu: You can place up to 10 scripts on the menu for quick access. NOTE: I couldn't figure out how to get the menu to refresh, so for now, after making changes to the scripts on the menu, you'll need to close and re-start Notepad++ before you'll see the changes. Also, if you assign keyboard shortcuts to the scripts on the menu, those shortcuts are assigned to the menu slot, not the script. That means if you move a script from one menu slot to another, the shortcut remains with the previous menu slot until you change it manually. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. It is possible! If you select a file or folder in Explorer you can add it via context menu to favorites. The shown dialog gives you the possibility to add it in any Group. Just double click on the bottom item ([Files]/[Folders]) and you can browse through the tree. This also works with the Favorites icon bar. > Is it possible when clicking on a session to open it to have all currently open files be closed first? Yes indeed. Do also right click to open context menu and select "Reopen". But now I see, it is a little bit inconvenient. Maybe it is better to have on double click a "Open" like open this session and to have in context menu a "Add to current session". So menu change might be: "Open" will be "Add to current session" "Reopen" will be "Open" (also available by double click) > Is there a command line... Please have therefore a look onto the Notepad++ homepage. If I remember me correctly, support to open session files from Windows Explorer is implemented. Is this correct Don? You can however automatically move the file to the cache when you manually upload the file, so afterwards the file gets saved. Downloaded files go to the cache by default. I think I need some better documentation sometime, just like Notepad++ ;). -The Notepad++ toolbar is not related to the FTP_synchronize toolbar and so the toolbar wont enlarge (I dont intent to add it either, the icons used by FTP_s are only available as 16x16 anyway). The toolbar supports tooltips so if the button is too small you can use that for guidance. -Check the "subtree root folder" option, that way all the folders get their own treeicon and the string wont be as long. In a later release I think I am going to drop the current behaviour altogether, when symbolic links get handled better it'll interfere ;). ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. I use NP++ for professional development in C for embedded systems and this is the only feature I really miss, although it's possible by searching. In C, right clicking a function (macro name, typedef) and get a context sensitive choice in the pop up menu should be ideal I think. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. But my memory is no good, and I easily forgot all the various symbols needed. Right now theres no information about them within the program and you have to do some digging to find it on the website. It would be great if there was just a little option or something to just show the commands. That way you could always pull it up when you need it. The bonus of doing it this way is that you can copy and paste from it. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum.
