(Post to ignore) However, Don. You'll do a fantastic job. NP++ is one of the
best Editors for windows out there. You'll fix it. Keep up your good work ;)

TextFX: TextFX Tools: Insert Ruler.

It probably isn't possible to have both, a general-purpose ruler and
syntax-highlighting that permits different parts of text to have different
fonts,
including different font sizes and/or proportionally-spaced typefaces.

Regards.
Greg

Regarding #2 (Document Switcher): in Settings -> Preferences -> [MISC] look
for the "Document switcher (Ctrl+TAB)" section in the lower-right (new in v4.8
RC). Try clearing the "Enable" check box. With this cleared I find the Ctrl+TAB
behavior is what I expect in Windows applications that support multiple open
documents.

Perhaps you could use the space as a boundary if the ID_ names never contain
any.

Actually, yes. Your question sounds like this is a problem to you, whether I
present it to you as a solution. The question is: do you want to solve your
problem or not, or do you only want to solve your problem in a way that doesn't
ask any input from you?

Smart thinking gets you a little further.

You can get rid of all the newlines within your matches first, so you won't
have to take them into account when doing the real search. You could achieve
this by simply removing _all_ newline characters. This may be a problem later,
when you would like to have your text reformatted in the original way. Therefor,
you may exclude real or wanted newlines by replacing them with (or adding) some
special character (string) first. Later you can restore the wanted newlines
back by replacing or removing the special character (string).

How about making the ruler a comment (block) so it may be shown in a different
font/style?

You can use the following expression to find what you want:

^ID_[^\[]+\[

* means: match the previous character 0 or more times (which in your expression
is _)

You may be helped by using the Advanced Find/Replace Dialog (CTRL+R).
It has a drop down list containing frequently used (but not all) regular
expressions
elements in the upper right corner (Select Regex).

You may check the 32 results of a search for "empty+line", including the next
message:

"RE: No indentation after empty lines"
in the thread
"New feature - enhanced indentation awareness"
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1688819&forum_id=331753

By the way, you can simply undo the automatic indentation by pressing CTRL+Z.
This will "restore" the situation you want.

You can insert multiple lines (now) by pressing CTRL+D to duplicate the last
empty line.

        NppExport 0.2.7 released

I decided to work a bit on NppExport, so here it is, 0.2.7.
It sohuld fix the problems with characters outside of the ASCII range (ie,
'eating
accented characters'),
aswell as properly export UTF-8 characters.
And the tabs in RTF have been improved, your text should align a bit better
in RTF (HTML is still a problem).

Some sort of changelog:
----------------------
0.2.7
Fix missing characters above 127 (ie 'eating accented characters').
Filters out indicator flags, should prevent out of bounds problems.
HTML uses UTF-8 encoding tag when Scintilla is set to UTF-8.
HTML uses <pre> tag, spaces and tab characters take one space.
HTML uses sc## tag instead of StyleClass## (smaller files).
RTF parses UTF8 data to enable unicode characters.
RTF uses new system for tabstops (better accuracy).
