I've tried the spaces and it didnt work. It works for the default style and
fonts, but if a style uses something else the entire layout gets screwed,
most noticably comments, which are default in Comic Sans MS.
If you really need those tabs I suggest to use 2.7.0 instead, its pretty stable.
(or even earlier version which used spaces)

I did try renaming the plugin folder which did not solve the problem.

After some digging around on the new work station I noticed it was running ATI's
Hydravision. I disabled hydravision and the problem went away. After looking
at the properties enabled for hydravision there is an option to enable which
monitor a dialog box appears on. After disabling this option and running
hydravision
again the problem did not reappear.

Is there a hidden dialog in Notepad++ that is brought to the surface via
Hydravision?

OS: WIN XP
ver: 4.8.1

Hi, I ran into a weird window problem when I opened a whole bunch of files and
then tried opening the 'find file' window. It wouldn't open even though the
main window faded out, until I actually restarted the application. I haven't
been able to duplicate this problem again.

@Jens:
Last time I asked you about this problem you said you wouldn't do anything about
it because you disapproved of this coding style. And now you say it's a
limitation
of Scintilla? But if, as the OP says, Scintilla matches with CR/LF removed,
wouldn't that mean that "foo [CRLF] (..." is treated as "foo [SPACE] (..."?
Or am I getting this wrong? Anyway, without accepting the newline before the
params list, the Function List plugin is only of limited use, as I cannot be
sure that ALL functions are indeed listed. I was hoping that version 2 of the
plugin would (permit to) solve this problem, though.

Greetings,
Thomas

Once I've pressed (by mistake) an "Edit" item on the windows explorer context
menu when a large AVI-file was selected. And Notepad++ has terminated abnormally
when it tried to open that AVI-file. And because NP++ was configured to open
last files it has stopped operating at all. Every time I was trying to launch
NP++ it opened that AVI and crashed.

I have had to rename that AVI file to make NP++ working again.

Notepad++ hangs for the longest time over slow SMB connections. Version 4.7.5.
Version 4.8.1 won't even load. I already turned File Status Auto Detection off.
Trying to load a new file, or just switching windows, causes it to hang. I need
lots of files open. The explorer also hangs when browsing SMB connections.

I have to revert to a previous version - very old version. 4.6.

After further experimentation, it was due to WindowManager plugin. That plugin
should be taken out back and put down.

Hi,

I know this subject has been handled a couple of times, but I couldn't find
the answer I was looking for, to my question.

I'm currently using NPP 4.8. Every time I'm typing a "(", a "{" or a """, I
get the counterpart "for free".

That's nice, but I don't want it the way it is behaving now. All counterparts
are put on the same line, but some of them I want to have on another line (like
the counterpart of "{").

What is strange, however, is that the Autoclose option in the TextFX plugin
is *not* set. And still, I have this behaviour.
Better, when I set the Autoclose option, then I get two closing chars for one
opening char. So, {}}, or """ or ()).
Obviously, I don't want this option to be switched on, for sure.

But my question is two-fold:

1. If TextFX is not doing the autoclose, who's doing it?
2. Is it possible to choose for each individual character ( {, " and ( )the
way the counterpart is placed?

Best rgds,

--Geert

I love notepad++ but the lack of one feature consistently irks me. It need
highlighting for searched text or an option to highlight all, much like in
firefox.
The current method of marking lines with a little yellow circle is less then
ideal when search log files or code with long lines.
