As can be read elsewhere, find dialog settings are not stored to be remembered
for the next session. You'll have to type them again or create a document in
your session containing your favorites, which allows you to copy them time and
time again.

Yes, use backslash + number instead of {$#}.
Replace: <font>\1</font>

I believe this has been reported before.
The same (or similar) awkward behavior happens when pressing CTRL+R: the
selected
text is copied into the Find field automatically, but also the Selection
checkbox
is checked. So the default behavior is to search the text you highlighted
yourself
in itself...

If you have no time answering questions, why do you
1. remove messages that point out to the user he can do something himself, by
actively searching for answers to his problem in previous messages on the
forums?
2. remove messages that contain other constructive approaches, like for example,
rephrasing or explaining his question, or guiding him to better do so?
3. not complain or act if someone keeps repeating his question or begging you
to please, please listen to him and do what he wants? This also is not pleasant
to other forum readers, who like to keep up with the messages and don't like
all this garbage either,
4. remove messages at all? You say you have no time...
Perhaps you can understand that by removing messages you remove part of the
thread's history, possibly containing kind of crucial information to understand
what has been going on.
If you have no time, then I suggest you to not be bothered at all by any
message.

Answered my own question--yes, you can use a capture/call back, up to nine
instances
for a single sweep.
Find what: <font[^>]*>(.*)</font>
Replace with: <span class="no-longer-deprecated">\1</span>
The \1 provides the call back.
See http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/regExpList.php for a list of all
regex that works with N++.

OK, sorry for posting that twice, I didn't know that. ;-)
Just tried CTRL+R after highlighting some text and that works, so the problem
seems to exist only with CTRL+F.
Greetings, Dom

I hope you there will be support for Right-To-Left languages like Arabic in
Notepad++. It doesn't even inhrit that from the host Windows operating system.

It's not a good idea to modify the plugins manager to adapte one plugin's
specific
need, w/o considering that there're other plugins work in the same system.
What you should do is give the dummy name to your menu item. Once you get
Notepad++
handle, you modify menu item names by calling
ModifyMenu(MenuHandle, id, MF_BYPOSITION, 0, name);

I know this doesn't answer your question, but
http://notepad-plus.wiki.sourceforge.net/FindReplaceNewlineHowTo discusses some
non-regex workarounds for find/replace. If you really need regex then you might
be able to do what you want in two stages.
