Still cannot open file with unicode file name under Windows Vista, while NotePad
and WordPad can.

> 1. I can't believe that for such a common feature a totally different approach
is mentioned first.

Yes, the original article has been butchered a little. I just move that method
to the bottom.

> 2. "$ matches newlines" is technically not correct.

Maybe. When I wrote the original article there was very little information
around about what would and wouldn't work, so I was guessing a bit. What I've
written in the article works, and that's the important thing. If you want to
fix it up then you're welcome, just so long as your thoroughly test anything
you suggest people do first. There's no point being technically correct if
Notepad++ doesn't work that way.

Would ^ be found if the last line has no newline after it?

I haven't kept my copy of Notepad++ at the very latest version, so some later
versions might operate a little differently. I think there was a Scintilla
update recently, so if anyone can confirm that it works differently, please
update this page of the wiki, preferably retaining the original and adding a
note mentioning which version works differently.

Donho,

I read yesterday where someone had an issue with on of the DLLs that were
install. This person mentioned that it looked infected (more to it than this,
but I'll leave out the details). I was following this thread to see what the
problem was or any comments that other users might have. Sometime this
afternoon
I noticed that the thread was removed by the admin. Why was this? Was the
person that posted trying to pull a prank or what? A confirmation that the
install package was clean and that maybe this person had an infected machine
before would be nice to see instead of refreshing on the thread to find out
it was deleted by the admin.

Either there or in the getFuncsArray itself.

Personally I think that it'd be a nice and regular behaviour if Notepad++ would
first supply all the information (setInfo) and then ask questions. Think of
it not as of custom-tailoring the plugin manager to this specific need, but
as of following the general rule that initialization comes first (i.e. the
plugin
must be initialized before it is used).

The solution with ModifyMenu looks a bit like a hack, but I agree that it gives
more flexibility if one wants to update menu contents after the plugin
is loaded.

For a truly dynamic menu system you would need a parameter to be passed back
to your callback function. Right now every menu item must have its own callback.
If you want to have 100 menu items, you must have 100 separate functions
compiled
into the DLL (and you can't change the number dynamically). Otherwise if you
have two menu items and one handler for both, you can't tell which menu item
was selected when you're in the handler.

If a callback would accept a plugin-specified integer parameter, we could have
a single callback and differentiate between menu items by the parameter value,
thus allowing for over 4'000'000'000 menu items per callback.

Thank you! It's always pleasant to hear that. : )

A little afterthought: maybe WebInsert would be a better name for the plugin.
Or TagInsert, or TagWrap. Something along these lines. WebEdit is too
pretentious
for this tiny tool.

I think this can be done w/o breaking anything, since atm there are no
guarantees
about any order yet, so adding in some ordering of functions shouldn't break
a thing, plugins that rely on this behaviour right now are doing something wrong
anyway (this is way less intrusive than the whole "SetWindowLongA breaks
Scintilla"
issue). ModifyMenu only works to a certain extend. You cannot know for sure
which ID is available if you want to add any new command and finding your own
menu is pretty tricky and hacky (assuming Plugins is the name or the location
is 6 is very bad imho, esp. if translations are used or NppTextFX is adding
its own menus).

The callback could work, but that means the structures handed over to Notepad++
have to be changed, which breaks either Notepad++ or all the current plugins,
or both. I believe there was a discussion about dynamic menu content some while
back, though it was about context menus if I am right.

Hello !

I'd like to add a style for a language in the styler configurator (Settings
> Styler configurator... > Style).

For example, I'd like to add a style "FUNC" for the PHP language and I put the
PHP's functions in this style. It's to not confuse these functions with the
users' functions.
I know it's possible to add words in the textbox for the "WORD" style, but I'd
like to avoid mix up reserved words and functions.

So I started up modify the XML file nammed stylers.xml in the folder :
C:\Documents and Settings\%user%\Application Data\Notepad++\

I added this line :
<WordsStyle name="FUNC" styleID="165" fgColor="800000" bgColor="FEFCF5"
fontName=""
fontStyle="1" fontSize="" keywordClass="instre2"></WordsStyle>

in the tag for the PHP.

When I open the styler configurator and select the PHP language, the "FUNC"
style appears correctly. If I add words in the textbox, they correctly appear
in the XML file, but they are not colorful as the same as the "WORD" style.

Do I forgotten anything ?

Thank you and sorry for my english ...

This was intended to be new lines instead of newline( character)s, of course.

> Will $ be matched for the last line if it has no linebreak?

Yes, this also seems to be matched for the last line if there is no linebreak
character.

I think its safe to assume because the thread was a double post, its also in
the Help section of these forums.
I think you can also assume its a false alarm or the computer itself is
infected.
