sorry to contradict you but I do have 4.8.2 and I can assure you it's not
fixed.

the only solution I found was to put the second tab in a second view window.
but it's not very practical as the size of the windows changes the indentation
of the code....

any ideas why I am still experiencing this bug even with a 4.8.2v?

thanks for fast reply

hello,
can someone confirm these search bugs:

bug 1: search display position isn't maintained:
if you select in the search menu: display position middle the view should
be placed, so that the match is placed in the middle of the viewing field.

this works fine for the first match and if the next match is outside of the
current view. but if you have several matches close by, with each new match
the cursor moves upward in the viewing field until it reaches the second
line from above.

bug 2: problem with search wraparound in large files
if you search in a large file for a text and npp wraps-around / starts again
at the document beginning, the view for the first match isn't placed where
the cursor (the text match is), but instead somewhere else.

how to reproduce:
create a file with many lines (~30.000 here), place two (or more) matches
in it and search for it using wrap around.

I don't suppose you could allow the user to change the font and font size while
you're at it :-))

I might be able to, but I don't yet know the structure for a plugin and how
it interacts with NP++.
I fixed this by getting rid of all the obvious bugs and cleaning up the source
so there were no more warnings or errors when I compiled using VC++2005.

The view will shift to the first visible line of the wrapped line. The larger
the wrapped line is, the bigger the offset may be.
I find it very difficult to correct this offset with Scintilla. Usually, the
offset isnt much larger than 2/3 lines so the line you worked on is still
visible,
but in extreme cases it may be a bit much.

A new Scintilla command like SCI_FIRSTVISIBLELINE might be able to fix this :)

I had same problem as user in this post after upgrading to 4.8.2
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1959426&forum_id=331754

A dbl-click on a supported file type would cause npp to die. I could open it
stand-alone, then drag-drog file onto it and it would open fine, but crash as
soon as I tried to edit anything.

So, I did as recommended and renamed plugins dir, created a new [empty] one
and validated. npp started, and behaved fine with no plugins. I then added them
back in one by one.
All worked until I moved HexEditorPlugin.dll over... CR-A-ASH !!!
I then noticed there were 2 Hex plugins in the directorty.
HexEditorPlugin.dll
HexEditor.dll

Eveything worked fine when I moved the second .dll over. The 1st one
[HexEditorPlugin.dll] is defintely the culprit. I do not know which npp version
it associated with, but its details are:

HexEditorPlugin.dll 10/4/2006 [Oct 4th, '06] 1:12:28 :PM 159,744 bytes

I pretty much have all plugins installed, and all works fine now. If anyone
has info on this dll, I'd sure be interested.

Thought this might save someone some time....

Regards,
Sock

Than you for your very useful information.

HexEditorPlugin.dll, which cames with old Notepad++ release, is a old version
of HexEditor.dll.
Obviously it doesn't work at all with v4.8.2.

May I know how do you upgrade your Notepad++? Eith installer or zipped package?

Don

Its Ctrl + F for search / Find. ALT+S is 'Compare Against SVN Base'.

When print a text with underline (the font is Consolas), the underline is very
thin. Would somebody solve this problem? Thanks lot!

I just downloaded NOTEPAD++ to help me write a few batch files that I want to
write to help in some daily maintenance and backup options. I can't seem to
get the character set to come up that would allow me to make boxes around some
of my options. It does so automatically in Notepad but I would far rather use
NOTEPAD++. I know this must be a very basic question, but would someone be so
kind to help me out. Very much appreciated.
Bryan
