I think what you are protesting against is the second one. I understand many people tend to mistake these two when they lost their rational and being emotional. It looks like you are one of them. As of Olympic Games, Chinese people have been waiting it coming to China for hundred years. We Chinese people are proud of it because after an effort of such a long time, we finally broke the locker and made our door opened. This is not easy. Unfortunately, some people like you are trying to associate this great world wide event with what has just happened and I should let you know you are expressing your feeling in a wrong way. You are pushing your Chinese friends standing at the other side of the river and building a shield made of Chinese people for what you are really going against. You don't make the government sad, you make Chinese people sad. You are closing the door we just opened and lighting the flame of a war between both kind people, which is really not necessary. I might be wrong. Maybe you truely mean to slap on the faces of all Chinese people by putting that image in your website. I am sorry if that is the case. Let us fight then, with my sadness. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. My default setting for the new document encoding is UTF-8 and I guess this should apply even when I start NP++? Yet, if I start NP++ and try to enter unicode (Japanese) text, it doesn't work; however, if I keep NP++ open and then select File/new to create a new document, then I can enter Japanese text in this new document as expected. I have tested the above with clean installs of NP++ using both the zip and the installer on a test Windows installation with no other third-part software installed (only the basic Windows installation files). Any feedback, suggestions? Thanks in advance, Dario ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. See the analysis here, complete with comments and explanations: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eCmWa_q4xU The video shows that the man in the video was not easily identifiable as Han Chinese; that he did not seem to have been hurt (he was wearing a helmet, and no rocks appeared to have been aimed at his body); that people in Tibet are seldom seen wearing helmets; that large stones were conveniently "available" on pavement right next to the bike; and that the driver-victim appears unafraid of his attackers (at the end of the video he walks calmly away) still think that this "attack" was real and not staged? ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. PRC?????Human Right???????????? New York Times April 9?????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????????? ???? New York Times???: ========================== Editorial The Torch and Freedom April 9, 2008 After facing major protests in London and Paris as the Olympic torch made stops on its journey to Beijing, the Chinese government is said to be looking for a public relations firm to patch up China?s image before the 2008 Games in August. In the spirit of the Olympic ideals, we are prepared to help China ? free of charge. Here?s what you do: Stop arresting dissidents. Stop spreading lies about the Dalai Lama, and start talking to him about greater religious and cultural freedoms for Tibet. Stop being an enabler to Sudan in its genocide in Darfur. In other words, start delivering on the pledge you made to the International Olympic Committee to respect human rights ? which, by the way, include the freedom of expression and the freedom of assembly. It is sadly typical of authoritarian regimes to presume that huge protests of the sort that have accompanied the Olympic torch are provocations instigated by devious foreign foes. It was the same when the United States and several other Western countries boycotted the 1980 Moscow Games over the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Since the Kremlin suppressed all dissent, it was beyond the ken of Soviet leaders to imagine that their actions could actually infuriate people and that they would then act on their outrage. Just so, the Communist authorities in China have been fanning nationalist resentments among their citizens with claims that protests against their repressive policies are staged by hostile foreign forces bent on ruining China?s grand Olympic party. The popular anger then makes it easier for the regime to arrest dissidents, stifle the news media and blame a ?Dalai Lama clique? abroad for the troubles in Tibet. Since the Chinese government does not hesitate to whip up ?spontaneous demonstrations? in favor of its policies, it?s not a stretch for it to presume that foreign ?enemies? are doing the same along the route of the torch. Thus, the pathetic presumption that a P.R. firm can make the protesters go away. It can?t and won?t. Nobody expected China to democratize overnight, and, given the country?s mighty economic power, nobody really wants to antagonize Beijing. But a nation that applies to host the Olympic Games also must demonstrate that it is worthy of the honor. China has only itself to blame for messing up its coming-out party. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum.
