When I have a file open and then delete it, Notepad++ notices it has changed
and asks if I want to keep it open. If I choose 'yes' the file should be seen
as modified and the save button and ctrl-s shortcut should be enabled. At the
moment I have to modify something in the text before being able to save.
Maybe there is a setting to allow it that I don't know about?

Shift + backspace does not delete last character, instead writes a strange
character.
Something like [BS]
This occours since 4.8
In 4.7 this didn't happen.
This is very annoying, I know there is no reason to hold shift while pressing
backspace to erase characters, but I think there is no reason to write this
strange character too.
Sometimes my right hand goes more fast than my left and when I want to erase
a just entered CAPITAL character, instead erasing it that [BS] appears.

I would like to split a long string (with no spaces) into, let's say, 50
characters
per line. In perl or PHP you could use ^([a-z]{50}) to find the pattern and
replace with \1\n. But it seems that Notepad++ does not recognize [a-z]{50}.
In Perl or PHP you could also insert \n at postion 51 of the string, but I do
not know if it can be done in Notepad++.
Thanks for all your help
Weiting

Dear all:
I notice that in the homepage of notepad++, there is a political slogan which
urges people to boycott the Beijing Olympic Games. This is very unfortunate
because the proposer has no idea about the issue of Tibet. I don't want to turn
the mailist to a political abattoir. However, I must clarify some
misconceptions and eliminate the Prejudice deeply rooted in the minds of some
people.
Why Tibet is a big issue? Western people believe that it is caused by the
Chinese government?s suppression of Tibetans? religion. However, the
government?s suppression is rather a reaction against the West?s provocation
than a hatred of the Dalai Lama.
I admit that the Chinese government made a terrible mistake in the Culture
Revolution. Thousands of Temples were destroyed. But this does not mean the
Chinese government wanted to wipe off the Tibetan culture. The Han Chinese were
also undergoing the miserable prosecution. Moreover, after the Culture
Revolution, the Chinese government rebuilt most of the temples, reestablished
religion freedom, released the political power to Tibetans, and withdrew most
of the Han Chinese from Tibet. In the mean time, with the support of the West,
the Dalai Lama took this advantage and provoked Tibetans to oppose the Chinese
government. This finally led to a series of riots from 1987 to 1989.
Then the Chinese government changed its policy. It is trying to attract
Tibetans by better living and strain the control of the religion at the same
time. Hundreds of billions of RMB has been poured into this land. However, some
Tibetans are not grateful to the government because they believe the West would
provide the same amount of financial support after independence.
To be honest, I cannot see any country except China would be so generous. Look
at the Tibetans in exile, they could have much more comfortable lives if the
West would like to donate more. There are more Tibetans in China than out of
China. How could the western countries feed so many people selflessly?
Some Tibetans never think of this problem. The West and the Tibetan government
in exile have told them that they can get everything from religion freedom to
high level salary. Their hatred is growing. Their anger is inflaming. And this
result is exactly some people hope to see.
Now let?s go back to the riot occurring in March 14. Evidently, mobs of
separatists attacked innocent citizens (including Han Chinese, Chinese Muslim
and some Tibetans) first. Then the police had to crackdown the violent
activities. Yes, some Tibetans, who were looting and robbing, were shot to
death. But this was the only choice. Otherwise, more innocent people would be
slaughtered. I think the U.S. government would do the same thing against the
mobs.
Definitely, several western news organizations do not miss this chance to
provoke hatred. They used edited photos, fake videos (taken in Nepal) and
biased descriptions (of the history of Tibet) to smear China. At first, the
Chinese government wanted to conceal this event from the people in China.
However, it could not succeed in the information age. We Chinese were
infuriated after we saw the photos, videos and descriptions from the western
media. We are expressing our anger.
We Chinese have the right to speak out loudly that Tibet is a part of China.
Tibet became a part of China by the agreements between the Chinese emperors and
the Dalai Lamas in Qing dynasty. (The Chinese government says that Tibet has
been in China since the Mongolian Empire. However, I don?t think so.) This fact
has been written in Wikipedia and admitted by every country in the world. We
will prevent any malicious attempt to split China, just like the U.S. patriots
do not allow the breakaway of California, whether the independence movement is
peaceful or violent.
Sincerely
Shen
