I am trying to block select a set of variable length lines. When I select those
lines using Alt + mouse select, I can select only till the length of the
shortest
line.
E.g : Paste the following lines in Notepad++

line 1
line 2 but a bit longer
line 3 longer

Now, try to block select all, you can select only till the length of line :
3. This is not working properly

The build time is 4/11/2008 22:40:50 so it is 4.8.5

It's ok then. Just curious if there is a 4.9 why it's not downloading that
version,
is it because it's not considered finished or that they are release candidates?
If they are RCs there should be a note on the site.

Thank you! I didn't see that 'Scintilla commands' option in (prior) latest 4.9
beta version.

Yes, this is the current behavior. This has been reported and discussed before,
as you can read elsewhere on the forums.

You might consider copying "the other parts of the (destination) lines" in front
of these lines varying in length (and copying the whole thing back).

Menu_____ : Search
Option___ : Clear all Bookmarks

You can use the shortcut mapper to create a shortcut for this function.

Menu_____ : Settings
Option___ : Shortcut Mapper...
Button___ : Main menu
Line 49__ : Clear all Bookmarks

Double click on line 49 and compose your desired shortcut.

You can even create a macro that does both for you, CTRL+M + the new shortcut,
and even change the CTRL+M shortcut so you can use that for the macro. Happy?

A few days ago I got a message from Trend Micro saying that 3 viruses were
quarantined. One of the "viruses" listed was file in My Documents called
"npp.4.2.2.Installer.exe", whic his the Notepad++ installer. Does anyone know
why it thinks NPP is a virus?

Probably a false positive. Have you tried updating your Trend Micro definitions
and scanning it again? Also, did you download it from anywhere *other* than
NPP's download directory here at Sourceforge? You can also try downloading
the installer for the latest version (4.9) and see if it flags that, as well.

If Trend Micro will let you, you can also try uploading the file to a site like
virustotal (http://www.virustotal.com/ ), which will scan it using several
scanners,
to be absolutely sure (and help cut down on false positives).

I suppose that if someone could port NPP to use .net, it could
technically/theoretically be ported to Mono. But I'd make no guarantees on
either port being easy, painless, or even feasible.

Just curious (seriously!), and I KNOW I'm getting off-topic, but... why DO the
spambots pick the old version (betas and releases) to attach to? (In addition
to adding new posts, of course.) Is it because the release posts typically
have more replies than the rest of the posts?

Hi Don,

First I'd like to point out that Scintilla has been updated to 1.76 with "minor
bug fixes"...might be a drop-in replacement.

Second, what flavor of RegEx does NP++ use in the find/replace? I tried a lot
of simple expressions that didn't work at all. (eg. ^.*$ acts lazy by only
matching
the first EOL assertion, and the lazy version (^.*?$) doesn't work at all) is
there a switch for enabling multiline RegEx?

Finally, I'd like to see if some features can or will be implemented:

1. HTML Tag autoclose for self-closed tags like <input />, <br />, <img />
  - it should insert " />" when "/" or ">" is typed outside of attribute/value
entry for a configurable taglist
  - an option to automatically close the last unclosed tag when "</" is typed
in HTML mode (like dreamweaver)
this is sometimes actually more useful than tag autoclose.
  - i have asked the authors of TextFX and XML Tools if this would be possible
to implement also

2. Dynamic highlight/style matching HTML tag - this is too useful not to have
and i miss it a lot when moving from SynWeb based editors
(http://flatdev.ovh.org/)
to Scnitilla editors.
  - when cursor is placed inside a tag, it should highlight/style the matching
tagname (without braces)
..without physically going to the match...which i think XML Tools does now,
and it is not dynamic,
but requires a keyboard shortcut....and has some quirkiness.

3. Dynamic (as you type) API code hinting (mostly for HTML/CSS
tags/properties/values)
4. Optional color picker and file selection pop-ups for CSS's url() and HTML's
href, src...maybe other attributes.
5. Color values styled with a background/foreground of the hex color they
represent?
(this is a dream more than an actual request)

NP++ is very impressive, and i wish i could use it for everything. But the need
for keyboard shortcuts to access some useful features is probably the main
reason
i dont use something like VI in the first place. If #1, #2, and #3 could be
implemented it would go a long way to making this a perfect markup editor, for
now i have to resort to dev-PHP or Scriptly, neither of which cuts it for
non-markup,
nor has the breadth of features of NP++, so i have to switch back and forth :(.

please explain if each request is attainable (if not, why?), and if it may be
slated for future versions, i would love to see these make it in (sooner rather
than later or never :)

keep up the great work,
Leon
