The guy is asking if Notepad++ can handle a 400MB XML file. He wants to know
if Notepad++ can handle large files.

Yup, I also get some noise, but for me it is appended to the pasted text, while
the cursor will remain at the starting position where I played the macro.

The garbage I get is:
1[NUL]plo

So, after recording the macro,

12345

becomes

12345
12345
1[NUL]plo

and then something like this

12345
1234512345
1[NUL]plo
1[NUL]plo

while the cursor remains between the 5th and 6th column on line two.

You might have had no problems, however, if you had not both typed and copied
some text while recording the macro.

[record macro]
12345[Enter]
[stop recording macro]

and repeating that (a number of times) might just do the trick.

Selecting the text and only pasting that by a macro seems to result in garbarge
again.
But why would you want to _only_ paste in using a macro.

Perhaps this will work for you:

Start with an empty document.
Type your desired line, like
12345[Enter]

Start macro recording.

Press CTRL+A.
Press CTRL+D.

Stop macro recording.

Play your macro any number of times and have fun!

If I disable the NPPTextFX.dll macro, for example renaming it to
NPPTextFX.dll.not,
then it works. So there must be something wrong with this macro.

Best regards,
JKa

I noticed that pasting data copied from another application didn't change the
linebreaks (anymore). I'm not sure if this is intentional and if I should be
bothered by that (I can re-format in N++).

However, I just pasted data from another application and got a lot of extra
[NUL]'s at the end.

Disabling the NPPTextFX.dll plugin indeed did make this behaviour disappear.

Has no one else noticed this, or been able to reproduce it? It seems like a
legitimate bug. I was able to reproduce it at home as well.

Just an FYI I am using Vista Business 32bit at work and Vista Ultimate 64bit
at home. Can anyone on XP reproduce this?

Any industrious translators will always post here before Don his released.
There you can find all changes.

Well, Notepad++ uses the menu as it is provided by WIndows, so I doubt much
can be done about it.
A workaround would be to remove some languages, or split the menu it two
columns.
The first thing can be done by changing your preferences, the 2nd requires a
change. Though personally I would prefer the single menu :)

Isnt it possible to set your laptop monitor as the primary? I think there are
some tools to move the taskbar to another monitor and/or select what monitor
to display windows on.

Hi,

I am a heavy Notepad++ user for development, and like to thank everybody for
their good work.

If you think about future improvements, one area that really could need some
work is the
"find in files" functionality.
Usully I have to search through tons of files in our source repository located
on the network, and Notepad++ is difficult to use in this scenario.

1) Notepad++ waits to display the result until the end of the search. Since
the search can take sometimes minutes, Notepad++ is hanging during this time.
=> Move the search into a seperate thread would be nice. That would also allow
to run multiple searches at the same time.

2) I'd like to see the initial results immedialty so that I can work with the
files while the search is still going on.

3) I'd like to use the "find" operation on a "find in files" result. That is
not possible at the moment.

Thanks,
Ulf

No, there is no WYSIWYG editor. As far had been represented, this application
is for developers/programmers

Indeed it's another regression.
It'll be fixed in v4.9.2
