Hi - I opened a .INC file with notepad++, and it is using some colors that I
don't like. When I look at stylers.xml, or when I go into the styler
configurator,
there is no option to modify .inc files. Are .inc files defaulted to some other
type of extension?

In general, are extensions that are not specified in stylers.xml defaulted to
some place?

Thanks,
Jackie

I downloaded the latest notepad++ exe, v4.9.2, and am using the messages from
the link you mentioned, and I am still experiencing this problem in both
FILESAVED
&& FILEBEFORESAVE when using NPPM_GETFILENAME

NPPM_GETFILENAME is defined as #define NPPM_GETFILENAME
(RUNCOMMAND_USER +
FILE_NAME)
RUNCOMMAND_USER = WM_USER + 3000, and FILENAME is 3

NPPN_FIRST = 1000;
NPPN_FILEBEFORESAVE = NPPN_FIRST + 7;
NPPN_FILESAVED = NPPN_FIRST + 8;

Same steps as before to repro, new file, hit save as, and when i make a
GETFILENAME
call, i get the name of the file before the save as. Its arguable that
FileBeforeSave and GetFileName should return the name of the file before its
changed, but FileSaved really should return the true filename that was saved.

First off, I really appreciate N++ ... it's my primary editor for my open source
development work. So thanks for the great tool and all the hard work the
developers
and project admins put in to it!

Now on to the requests...

1. Differentiate between "tab size" (X) and "indent size" (Y) . "tab size" would
be the size hard tab characters are expanded to when displaying the document.
"indent size" is the size of the indent you get when you press the tab key.
Normally these would be the same, but if you have "use spaces for tabs"
selected,
these two values can be different. Pre-existing hard tabs in the file would
be displayed as size X while new indents are inserted using spaces to size Y.

2. Allow different tab/indent settings per file type. For example, when I'm
editing C++ source code I do "use spaces for tabs". But when I'm editing a
Makefile
I need to use real hard tab chars. It would be very nice if N++ automatically
switched based on the file type (which it already knows for syntax highlighting,
etc.)

3. Add a hotkey combination for inserting a hard tab even when "use spaces for
tabs" is enabled. Once in a while I'm in a situation where I need a hard tab
and I have to go find one in another document to copy-and-paste. A hot key for
inserting a hard tab would save that trouble. (I was going to suggest CTRL-Tab,
but I see that's used for changing between document tabs.)

Could you please try again with v5.0? Most of the times it should render the
correct name, unless a file that is not active is being saved (as with save
all, close all etc).

Maybe the message needs some expansion where it gives the filename as part of
the notification.

In the new version this shortcut key has been changed to "Ctrl-Alt-Left" and
"Ctrl-Alt-Right".

There is a new bug inroduced in Notepad++ v 4.9.2.

When you fold the text using "Alt-0" (or using any other method) and, then,
you "Clone to another view" using "View" menu, and, in this way, create another
view, then, in both the views, all "plus" signs become "minus" signs.

The software comes to know it is in error when you click one of those minus
signs, and minus sign becomes plus (as it should be). Then in the NEXT click
on it, the normal behaviour resumes.

You have to do this for each of those erroneous "minus" signs to make it "plus".

In other words, to open the folding of each sign you have to click that sign
TWICE.

I use notepad++ version 4.5.0.0. I use AVG free 8 with latest updates.

AVG says it finds Trojan horse Vundo.T in C:\Program
Files\Notepad++\scilexer.dll

Does anybody else get this warning? And if so, can I assume it is false and
ignore it?

This is definitely a false positive. I would ignore it.

I sent in the file to their research dep. and got the following reply:

AVG Anti-virus Research Lab has analyzed the file(s) you have sent from your
AVG Virus Vault. Below you can find the results for each file. The final verdict
on the file is either a correct detection or a false positive detection.

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\NOTEPAD++\SCILEXER.DLL" - sent for deep manual analysis

then 1,5 hours later, I received this:

AVG Anti-virus Research Lab has analyzed the file(s) you have sent from your
AVG Virus Vault. Below you can find the results for each file. The final verdict
on the file is either a correct detection or a false positive detection.

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\NOTEPAD++\SCILEXER.DLL" - detection is correct

:/
