Just a couple of questions...

Firstly, is the "decr=" attribute in the auto-completion files displayed
on screen anywhere like the "param name=" attributes?

Secondly, am I allowed to have a <Keywords name="type5"> line in the
langs.xml? If not, are there any plans to include one and would putting
one in now introduce any irregular behaviour in NPP?

Cheers
Mick

Notepad 5.0.2

How I got this bug:
Created new file (auto-settings: Windows CRLF, UTF8 without BOM)
Format -> Convert to ANSI
Typed in polish letter "" (utf8 representation: C59B) - everything looks
normal
Format -> Convert to UTF8 without BOM
DONT CLICK MOUSE ON THE TEXT FIELD AS IT WILL CHANGE (FIX) CURSOR POSITION!

Cursor is beetwen C5 and 9B bytes, type f.ex. "x" and You'll see "[c5]x[b9]"
in visual representation
Macro 'trim trailing and save' doesn't work here, instead it will add some
spaces/tabs between C5 and B9 bytes

Clicking on text field or moving the cursor by arrow keys after converting back
to UTF8 and typing or executing macro fixes the cursor position, so the cursor
is behind second byte in two-byte UTF8 encoding.

Best regards
Thomas from Poland
Sorry for bad English

Hi

I have a big file on my windows NT (14Gb) and I need to have a look at the
content
of the first 5 - 10 blocks of that file.

In linux I would just do something like 'head -100 <file> | od -c'. How can
I do something similar with notepad++ in windows?

Thanks - Martin

Wow, I would have thought I'd have gotten an answer by now, especially
since NPP is supposed to be amongst the top 5 most active projects on
Sourceforge. Surely, someone can tell me the answers to my questions.

TIA
Mick

I hope this is a joke - NP++ is *not* suited for tasks like this :)

You need an editor that doesn't try to load the full file into memory. I don't
know any text editors that behave this way (but surely there must be some!),
so I'd suggest you find a hex editor.

This would be the definitive feature for the Notepad++ find and highlight.

Hi Everyone,
Is it possible to take windows command prompt console and dock it inside
Notepad++. I've used NppExec and it has its limitations and I hoping to use
windows command prompt in itself. Please share your thoughts or advice on how
to approach this, or is it even possible or worth it.

Thanks
Ash

Never mind; it works. It was a logic error in my lexer.

I all ways install the zip version of npp++. So far, I have had no problems.
Today I did the same with 5.0.2. My system did not crash with the three XML
files that I have been working with for quite some time.

BTW: I am running XP Home SP 2.

Hi;

I use NPP to write Ruby code - I'm learning by Scite - and running on CMD window
and I would like to know how run the code through Console - like Scite or
Textpad
- in first plane.
Sorry the 'lamme' question, I love NPP (design, light-speed, etc.) and this
feature (running code through the Console window) can be usefull for me.

Regards

::mersus::
