You can use WebEdit plugin instead to create your own buttons:

The thing is:
That icon has got nothing to do with what NP++ does as a programmer's tool:
It's an editor, so its icon should look like some 'editing' thing, too. A sheet
of paper with lines on it or a pencil for example. That strange chameleon is
just too abstract to be remembered well by new users - they won't associate
it with an editor, rather with some kind of computer game.
NP++ needs a new icon, no doubt, but one should be able to bring it together
with the program's function!

My colleagues and I are often exchanging documents typed up in N++ to make edits
(text)
Is there a way I can have all the changes I make show up with red or something,
so my colleague can easily see what I've changed. and then do the same for when
my colleague make their own changes to send back?
This would be extremely useful =]

Since downloading the latest version, MS-DOS Style freezes the application.

You can use a diff/merge program (http://winmerge.org/ is free and works pretty
well). If you're doing a lot of exchanging, are more than a few people, or are
updating a whole bunch of documents, I'd suggest setting up a subversion
repository
(http://subversion.tigris.org/) and using something like TortoiseSVN
(http://tortoisesvn.tigris.org/) to see the diffs.

Is there a plugin that allows the user to select a block of text and add html
tags (at beginning and end) to it? And/or is there a plugin that allows the
user to paste text from Open Office, Word, etc. with html tags added (ie -
<p></p>
to each paragraph) like a paste special will do with a wysiwyg?

An external lexer for KVIrc KVS syntax highlighting has been posted to the
Scintilla
Interest group files area.
http://groups.google.com/group/scintilla-interest/files?hl=en  It is useable,
yet still has minor issues with array/hash highlighting in secondary views when
switching to another language.

Download and try it if you're a lexer writer, KVS scripter, or just curious
to see a lexer that provides:
  Folding of successive single line comments for both # and // comment lines
  Folding of /* c++ stream comments */ as well as folding of functions within
the commented stream.
  The usual //{ //} manual fold markers

  Highlighting of seven keyword groups and one compiled keyword group
  Separate coloring for assignment and evaluation operators
  Separate coloring for arrays and hashes with transparent highlighting similar
to the global 'find' indicator.

If you see any bugs and/or have a solution for fixing bugs please post.

Thell

I personally can't read/use Hebrew but its nice to know that Notepad++ will
be used in more languages. :)

Now I've got to find and convince someone to do a Maori translation for no other
reason than it would be cool!

Hi Notepad++ Users,

I have a small question, something that's kinda annoying me.
Since a couple days for some reason, the FTP Messages bar, keeps appearing at
the bottom when I start Notepad++.
While normally -like it should- only the FTP bar (on the right) appeared, now
also the FTP Messages bar at the bottom keeps appearing at start.
Is it possible to turn this off?

Thanks in advance,

spacIX

Hi. This is a suggestion for a new feature.

It's great that Notepad++ supports so many programming languages, but none of
us needs them all, I think. I found that I could remove some at the preference
dialogue, but who knows, someday I might need them. So instead of completely
removing them from menu, how about a "More" menu?

By default, the Language menu has some very popular oneslike C++, Java, HTML
or C# and it has "More". Like this:

==========
Language
==========
C++
Java
HTML
C#
---------
More >
==========

All the rest of the languages are listed at the sub menu of "More" and as you
use them it will move to the Language sub menu. For example, once I use Visual
Basic, it no longer belongs to the "More" but to "Language" like this:

==========
Language
==========
Visual Basic
C++
Java
HTML
C#
---------
More >
==========

This is easy to implement in C# since menus are dynamic, but may be difficult
if Notepad++ is using static resources for menu. However, it would be useful,
since currently there simply are overwhelming numbers of language listed. This
way, the language will only show that the user uses, thus improving user's
experience.

Thank you.

Subject: Problem with Text File Icons

I've run into this problem on numerous installations over the years -- I
would have thought the problem would be fixed by now. Some time ago I
solved the problem on one PC by following the steps at
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r19026544-Help-Notepad-Messed-Up-txt-icons
but cannot seem to get it working now.

I've got a freshly imaged PC running XP SP3, and installed the latest
version of Notepad++. After installation and associating txt files with
NPP, the default icon for text files is now the standard broken icon for
Windows.

Any suggestions on how to fix this quickly and easily (or at all?) -- and
more importantly, why it's happening in the first place? I've personally
seen this happen on at least 4 different PC's.
