Agreed. Often times I do this:

1. Launch Notepad++, because it isn't already running

2. Type some stuff

3. Hit Ctrl-S

The save dialog comes up pointing at the Notepad++ program directory, no matter
where I last saved a file (on a previous launch), even though I have the
"Remember
last directory" checkbox checked. It should at least default to My Documents,
because the Notepad++ program directory is *never* an appropriate save location.

Whenever the "open" or "save as" dialog boxes come, the initial path in those
is unpredictable.

For the open dialog, it would be logical if the initial path was set to the
path of the current tab - usually, the file you want is either in the same
folder,
or a folder right above or beneath the one you were working on.

For the save as dialog, it would be logical if the initial path was set to the
path of the previous tab (e.g. last used tab with a saved file) - or if there
are no saved files open, default to the last used folder (as all dialogs do
currently) ...

Simply opening to the same path every time, is not very useful - and opening
to the last used path doesn't make much sense either, as often you'll have to
sidetrack from one task to another, for example when opening your Apache
configuration file instead of a PHP class file, it's pretty annoying to have
to navigate through your entire harddrive again to figure out where you were
working. On the other hand, I could easily activate the tab with a file NEAR
the new file I want to open, and then click open...

I hope you'll consider this feature - it would really save a lot of time...

I am looking for information on textfx but their website is down. I tried to
find a way to search this forum but can't find a search feature for some reason!

Hi @all,

does anyone have a suggestion how I can execute a saved macro on any
file automatically e.g. using the command line?

Thanks in advance & best regards

You probably just have to uncheck 'Remember last operation directory' in the
Preferences dialog (under MISC).
It should follow the current file then.

Greetings!

After reading a bit, I found out about the keywords that:

%PROGRAMFILES%\Notepad++\langs.xml contains the keywords that then
%APPDATA%\Notepad++\stylers.xml then puts colors on

There's algo a *lang*.api in the APIs folder, which is made for the autocomplete
feature..

What im actually looking for, is where's defined that ASP code starts with <%,
and PHP code starts with <?

Because I want to see if I can fix this 2 issues:

1) coloring of the PHP's shortcut <?=, which is equivalent to ASP's <%= (which
is already colored)

2) %> not closing Comment block
In PHP, If i write
<?php

//END ?>
The editor understands that the comment finishes with the PHP region, but if
i write:

<%

'THE END %>

There the %> is commented out, so the ASP region isnt closed (messing all the
following HTML code, for example)

I found out in stylers.xml that there's a ASPSYBOL which colors the <% and %>,
but I cant find out where does it say that <% belongs to ASPSYBOL

Any help will be appreciated!

Hello!
I read your e-mail and, yes, people have come up with a solution:
You'll have to rewrite the source code of the scintilla lexers... as it is
apparently
hard-coded...
I dunno whether it can help your case but at least its something...

That's what I thought - unfortunately, turning off that option also means that
the 'save as' dialog starts up in Notepad++'s application home folder every
time...

Hello,
I have been working with npp for more than 2 years now and its really great,
I'm trying to do a logo to suggest for you npp developers, theres a first idea
here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/px42/2870011416/

I know its not that great now as its just a first idea. But if you give me
permission
ill stay trying to make it looks so good as the software is and I would like
to make a website design proposal too, all free of charge sure, just trying
to give something back to npp community.

Can I proceed?
