I am new to Notepad++, and I have just started learning programming in python.

Do I need separate software or a plugin to do this?

I need TextFX plugin, which is not available in the UNICODE version.
So I looked for the ANSI installer unsuccessfully.
The only way to install the ANSI version seems to be:
- download the .exe installer and run it (UNICODE)
- download the binary zip package and overwrite the installed Notepad++ with
the content of ANSI folder inside the zip archive
Am I missing something?
Could we have a single exe installer and choose between ANSI and UNICODE at
the beginning of setup process?

Hi all,
Just to be cheezy - "long time user; first time poster"!
I've noticed what I think is a bug, though I may be mistaken, as it could be
a deliberate feature that I don't understand. If I, for example, open 20 files
for a website I'm running, and I do a "find and replace" on all opened documents
and say, 14 of the 20 are modified by my find and replace whilst the other 6
aren't, I then would want to save all the opened documents, no matter whether
they've been modified or not (since I would expect unmodified documents just
wouldn't save). However, if your active tab is one of the unedited documents,
then the "save all" button doesn't work on the toolbar...
Is this a deliberate restriction, and if so, why?

In the meanwhile you can download version 5.1 ANSI, which is compatible with
every plugin. You can find it in the .zip file. If you need those plugins, you
don't need to downgrade to 5.0.3 (or any older version). I'm saying this because
I've noticed that a lot of people are not aware of the fact that there is also
an up-to-date ANSI version.

i tried to open a simple .nfo (simple text description file)
with no special characters and it hangs.
i tried with 5.1 version on windows xp
...i only hope next version this will be fixed.
and thanks for the good job with the program and his evolution,
i dont remeber how many versions i tried of notepad XD
